Hi, My first folding bike.
Pacific Noris 2.0
Bought at RM 1200.
1x8 speed Tourney RD with Altus Shifter.
Tektro Hidraulic Brake.
Thought of upgrading the chainring. Currently it use 52T. What is the max size? 58T?
user posted image
*
can you maximise your riding to the smallest cog on the cassette all the time?

if yes, then you can consider switching to a bigger chainring

if not then dont waste money.

Chainrings can go up to 60T as well. but do remember that when you change to a bigger chainring, most probably you have to change your chains as well because the stock one would be to short for it.

sorry newbie here...just want to know izzit buying a helmet is a must if just want to cycling around taman ... not sure wheter our country have law for cycling must wear helmet ornot...
*
I am not sure if there is a helmet law for cycling but while engaging in a physical activity out in public, why expose yourself to risks when you can minimise it? Wear a helmet is to protect yourself from severe injury and not due to compel by law.

Although coming from motorcycling point of view I think bicycle helmet is too exposed and hardly protects, at least something is better than nothing.

Anyone can teach me how to pump air to the presta pump type tyre? Jz get my bike today but dunno how to pump air inside.
*
Either use a dual head pump like the one from decathlon, or buy an adapter so you can use petrol station pump.

Adapter head only cost less than a ringgit on shopee, but factor in shipping cost sudah mahal. Bicycle shop should sell for about rm5.

Depending on your psi requirement, only Petronas pump could exert up to 100psi, the rest only 60-70+ thereabout.

Any portable mini pump to recommend?

I bought a couple ones, very hard to pump
*
Mini ones don't deliver much air volume. So it takes many pumps to push in sufficient air. Moreover when you start to reach higher back pressure time, susah to push. I have one from decathlon, rated for 110psi, but when pump until 60-70psi, sudah tak boleh masuk.

eventually can always use petrol station air pump. Especially Schrader valve. If presta valve, then standby a converter head lor.

The mini pump keep for emergency purpose in case of pancit. So emergency time suffer abit no issue la. Alternatively (for emergency situation) use co2 kit. Get you up and running in no time, so you can go top it off at petrol station pump.

For use at home just get a good floor pump, kasi pump before go out.

QUOTE(aquilaTE @ Feb 18 2021, 10:12 AM)
Oh... those definitely won't work well including the ones from decathlon... they are rated pretty low on psi... the one I've mentioned is rated up to 120psi, meaning... it's easier to get your pressure up to 60psi(example) compared to the el cheapo ones... but alas, the price is also more expensive... around 150-190 mark. But if it was me, I rather pay more for the convenience...

But the way... mini pumps can never replace floor/track pumps... the ones you use at home.
*
agreed, hence the thing i said above.

keep a good floor pump at home, mini pump/co2 only for pancit purpose and immediately go top-it off at the nearest station pump.

just an extra note, if your tyre requires an excess of 70psi, go to Petronas, their pump usually can pump up to 100 psi. other stations usually maxed out at 55-70psi only. but not many foldie tyres would need that much of pressure lah.

And on the note of using the valve adapter(if you're using presta with a removeable valve) at the petrol station... do not over tighten the adapter or have a valve core tool on standby... mine got stuck and I tried removing it, the valve core came loose letting the air out... had to use a spare tube that time.
*
eh how come can affect the core one? i used mine a few times no kacau also. how does your adapter looks like?

mine is this :

Restarting my love affair with folding bike again...Sold my Java Fit Pro IV  at a bargain just before PKP, later bang my head looking at the 2nd hand prices...
Building a Fnhon Gust this time..going with 16-349 setup with 11-34 casette 9 speed and 53t crank..i hope i made the right choice to start with 53t..Later need find a shop/mechanic who can sort out the cabling works..
*
53 seems abit low for a 16-incher, but it would be godsent if you climb alot

otherwise i see ppl banyak main 56-59

Hi guys, i want to change my pedal..

The stock foldable pedal feels flimsy

Any recommendation?? I see shopee can get rm30 alloy pedal that seems cool... Can use?

Also the screw size is standard?
*
What kind do you want and what's your budget?

Do you want foldable / detachable or you're ok with fixed pedal?

Do you want standard size or platform sized?

Must it be lightweight or you're ok with whatever weight?

I want non plastic type, lightweight, less than rm50

Got foldable detachable alloy pedal?
*
Small and light can get something like this

user posted image

It also has a detachable option

user posted image

Price varies depending on platform and seller though, and sometimes the large difference in price made me suspect there could be imitations. I have one that is similar but different brand. Useable, but if not because of weight concern, I would prefer the sure-footed feel of large platform pedals like these

20" (406) : 42T + [11-28T] for what purpose bro? it seems too low for flat road riding.

why not 52 or 53 crank, but 11-34 cassette? that should give a similar ratio for climbing but a much better ratio for flat road compare to 42

I got some questions about chain replacement.

My Tern Verge P20 (2014?) chain snapped last year, lazy to get a new one until now.

What spec and brand should I go and how much does a bike store usually sell and charge to install it?

Thanks!
*
should be a 10-speed chain

KMC is the go-to brand but plenty of fakes, sometimes bicycle shops themselves dunno are fake KMCs because they just take whatever supplier gives them.

if you buy from the shop and install there immediately, installation is free lah (more like the price already included installation labour in profit margin)

how much? i dunno - just go shopee/lazada survey to get a rough estimate lor

Guys.. What's is the difference of Java fit and TT 451. Sorry new to foldie here 😅
*
My wife's foldie is a 1st gen Fit from 2012

afaik fit is 406 wheel, i think they had switch to 451 wheel in recent years. but still i have heard if different stories, so depending on the seller's stock i guess? wheels are interchangable anyway, i just swapped to a 451 on my wife's fit recently.

the TT has a slightly rounded main tube compared to hexagonal on the fit.

The TT doesnt come with a detachable RD hanger like Fit though, not sure if it is good thing or not.

Both are same 18 speed running on Decaf branded RD & FD (2x9 setup, but my first gen is 2x8 setup, though in the past Fit uses Altus on both RD & FD. not sure about TT)

Current Fit frame somehow looks slightly nicer than the old Fit.

If you're deliberating between Fit or TT, i would cast my vote on Fit.

but if you dont mind used, i have a friend letting go of his good condition Tern C8 for only RM1.9k, bought August last year. he is jumping ship to FnHon.
