QUOTE(andrewhtf @ Feb 26 2021, 10:10 AM) 20" (406) : 42T + [11-28T] for what purpose bro? it seems too low for flat road riding. lol…no la…just a gear inches guide for those cheap bikes.why not 52 or 53 crank, but 11-34 cassette? that should give a similar ratio for climbing but a much better ratio for flat road compare to 42 not too low for flat road riding la…42/11 can paddle 30kmh, enough for santai riding. it's a common question been asking in those fb group over and over again for those cheap bike with 52t + 11/14-28t freewheel not freehub who asking why hard to climb with 20" This post has been edited by BOTAK_WAI: Feb 26 2021, 11:35 AM |

QUOTE(azamunekurone @ Mar 8 2021, 06:10 PM) to clear things up, this is not pikes 5speed 1st gen. its pikes 6speed 2nd gen. i sold off my 1st gen pikes to get this one. woooow...now i see. looks like the improvement of 2nd gen worth the efforts to make you sold your 1st and and get 2nd gen.and for comparision, its 80% compatible copy of B. the big different is rear triangle ok, to answer ur question. both bike for different purpose. i used zephyr more for aggressive riding when distance are less than 50km or im on travel. i used pikes for relax and santai riding when distance are less than 50km or im on travel. plus point for pikes becoz of the compactness compare to zephyr. but another plus point for zephyr bcoz got many gear and using qr for the wheels u mean big difference of rear triangle is [1st gen vs 2nd gen] or [2nd gen vs brompton]? looks like the 2nd or 3rd gen pikes really good for santai riding. do pikes user need to mod the cogs and chainring for better hill climb? i have no experience in this internal gear hub This post has been edited by BOTAK_WAI: Mar 8 2021, 11:00 PM |

QUOTE(azamunekurone @ Mar 9 2021, 08:12 AM) the biggest different in pikes gen1 and gen2 is their handlepost, reach and frame length. thanks for your detailed explanation, appreciate that.1st gen smaller than the 2nd gen. and handlepost more close to rider, making taller rider like me suffer for a long ride. the biggest different between pikes gen 2 and brompton is the rear triangle. pikes gen3 are more to cosmetic. i would said its facelift version. the only different is their fork, package bundle on to it. the rear triangle length are different from brompton, based screw are different and even the tensioner position are different,. i had to mod my litepro tensioner to fit my pikes. besides that, u still can use brompton/after market elastomer, seatclamp, mudguard, racks and also the easy wheel. and yeah, many pikes user mod their 2nd cog to bigger sized for more wide ratio gearing. as u can see, the internal hub pikes are not the same like brompton. its the same model, but brompton made a special tweak on the hub. pikes and brompton gave 13t/15t combo of cog. but brompton had wider ratio in their internal hub. to make it possible feel like that and save ur pocket, many of pikes user change their 2nd cog to 19t or 21t is the max. i've tried to put 18t to my setup. but i more prefser closer ratio on all my bike. still adopting this 18t for a while since i had 2 wheelset. the touring spec i used 18t. and this highprofile wheelset i change to 16t and feel very comfort about it. dont know about u, but i dont like wider ratio since pikes or brompton are limited to 6speed only. the easiest way without changing the cog is to used double chainring crank either with fd+shifter or manually change it without loosing close ratio and got wider gear option. but still, it wont be nice to put double chainring on my eyes.hahaha... u seem interested on pikes. are u owning one? no la…thought of getting another 1 small folding 16inch… but after judging from your comment on pikes, looks like those zephyr is more suitable for me. actually i am looking at something like dahon dove d8 (short wheelbase 16")…but too bad fnhon doesn't clone that frame. |

QUOTE(azamunekurone @ Mar 9 2021, 10:32 AM) oh ya, another disadvantages of the pikes/brompton are weight. my zephyr weight below 10kg and the pikes,.. aiyya, i think more than 12kg no no no…not the 14 inch dahon dove…i already got the fnhon breezedahon dove are ok, but i wont buy bike without chainstay. bike with chainstay are more stable when climbing. more stiff and rigid. thats the main reason why i gave my dahon vybe to my sister dahon dove d8 ![]() |

QUOTE(nas445 @ Mar 9 2021, 10:33 PM) Earlier was planning to build/buy a small foldies for my trip to Japan last year and cycle from osaka to kyoto..Just found out about shimanami-kaido and maybe I do that instead.. need to book my tickets by june & fly by Dec this year..😭 should have bought pikes or 3sixty...would have been less headache to travel with... for japan road condition, i will suggest have a look at fnhon retro 14" 3 speed with 39/42/45t chainring. |

I'm quite big size, 120kg don't waste time looking for folding bike. most ppl with such weight in the end go for mountain bike.*edited: i forget the golden question, budget rite? QUOTE(Justin.Loong @ Mar 12 2021, 09:56 AM) folding mtb maybe suitable. but he mentioned his budget only rm800, do u have any confidence to recommend him any folding bike that have good quality folding hinge to support his weight? need to read clearly the spec lo…u can check on your folding bike mah…some seatpost rated for 85kg, frame and handlepost rated for 115kg. not to say discriminate on overweight ppl…but if bike manufacturer put such indication like that, it's for safety purpose. |

QUOTE(Justin.Loong @ Mar 12 2021, 11:36 AM) Don't get me wrong from my post, I'm not trying to insinuate anything. but i think can try la if he dare…1st thing will kaput mostly is the spoke and rim…:haha:Because I think that some newbies (and also shops salesman) are also not aware of the weight limitations. for nice road condition, tern and dahon 20" and above should be not a problem for 120kg…but way much over his budget. QUOTE(pixelrider @ Mar 12 2021, 06:46 PM) Hi all, I'm planning to get an electric folding bike for my parents. So far I got Himo Z20 on my radar, do you guys have any other suggestion? Budget is around 3k. if u want buy from taobao then just use 3rd party freight forwarder…choose sea shipping for sensitive item. Also anyone tried ordering a whole bike from taobao before? There seems like a lot more options there but I'm not sure whether I will run into trouble when ordering such a big item from oversea, especially when batteries and motors are involved. ![]() maybe things like rear derailleur and hanger come broken then u can replace it here. QUOTE(pixelrider @ Mar 13 2021, 01:19 PM) Hmm now I think I'll just order from Lazada local seller, not worth the hassle if anything goes wrong during the delivery. see my previous post…that's the most perfect modification done i have ever seen.My other option would be DIY a mid drive motor on a folding bike but I'm not sure if that will affect the foldability or not. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...#entry100009676 |

Good weekend guys!
My fnhon breeze...after tried few chainrings setup (47T>54T>52T>50T>41T), i'm finalized with 41T + 9/13/17T 47T is the chainring comes with the bicycle, but i would say 45T will be the most balanced setup with 9/13/17T sprocket. for speed wise, 50T is fun to ride. 54T chain will be hitting the seatstay while riding. 54T and 52T is slower than 50T because my leg not enough power to raise the cadence. for my usual route 41T to 52T average speed not much different so i settled down with 41T. ![]() actually i would prefer without mudguard, but 1 day suddenly raining i insaf already. ![]() not in most compact folding position, i lazy fold up the handlebar.
