My Malay friend put their bin / binti as middle name.

For US visa application, bin/binti is put as first name. Eg First name: Nurul Suraya binti
Last name: Abdullah

why make things complicated
just use same format la
surname = last name

so what if people call u Mr Ah Huat when ur surname is Tan
or Mr Ahmad when ur name is actually Syafiq

This is true. Malaysia passport should separate to first name and last name as well.

I was in Bolivia a few weeks ago and in their visa form I fill in the first name and last name (surname) as requested, but its different from what indicated in passport as theres no first name last name thingy.

The immigration officer kept asking me nombre nombre or something and raised her voice in spanish. I cant understand her at all and theres no one there who speaks english. Apparently she thought im fakreor my passport is fake. Took a very long time to finally got stamped and crossed the border.
