for those who love science fiction especially space exploration series or movies
what I love about space sci_fi is the new ideas or expectations, thou I don't like "doctor who" or "star war" even it's about space but it's about heroes and silly things like that
I lake all star trekstar trek series, but mostly voyager and TNG because of the abundance of new Ideas
also like stargate the three serieses
also Babylon 5
also earth final conflict
and the most I like the comedy series red dwarf

but since 2002 all sci_fi space production are empty, silly heroism some visual effect but no new Ideas

I found the reality sci_fi production from BBC somehow interesting, like"
Mars, 6 episodes
Historic beast, 6 episodes
Space Odyssey Voyage to the Planets 2004
...
but the science content at sci_fi reality need much more accuracy, even it considered fiction but it should present facts only.

So you want hard sci-fi?

dont know what hard mean in such context
red dwarf is comedy, but also informative, and this is what sci fi about, stretching imagination based on some science facts

Yeah the Mohs scale of hardness might differ in what you want. For example, in terms of time travelling in sci fi the film Primer (2004) is the most grounded in reality. But if you want sci fi films that question the existence of humanity or morality due to the technologies or science or certain concept introduced then you might like Solyaris (1972) or Gattaca (1997).

My personal favourite though is Moon (2009).

Time travel is total fiction no science in it, but it's nice when highlight some other scientific facts even if twisted

in the same sense, Croods the movie was just entertainment like many other anime films no science of any type.
but the series Dawn of the Croods has lots of science facts about how early humans developed simple Ideas and understanding of the worlds

Talking about early human, alien series movies deliver more depth on that knowledge especially the prequels : prometheus & covenant

prometheus & covenant and the other alien series films present very strange theory
it's interested and thriller but from science view even it could be possible but all evidences against it

the new star trek discovery is bad compared to the old 5 series of star trek

red dwarf continue to season 12 after many years of stopping
it maybe the longest sci fi series in history

National geo series Mars which mixing fiction with documentary, is becoming more fiction and loosing reality

Space sci-fi?
BSG is at the very top of my list, but unfortunately not many can accept the conclusion of the final episode.
Recent series like The Expanse also is great, S4 coming this year

If you don't mind anime, Planetes. It's about a group of garbage (debris) collector in space. The setting pretty much feels like our possible future and the story gets surprisingly deep towards the end.

Discovery so far best. I like this star trek series
