sorry to disappoint you but tm is that stupid. just because the DP is in front of your house does not mean a port is reserved for you.
tm will assign ports on a first come first serve basis, even if the house is further away from the DP. as long as they can connect to the DP they will use up the ports there.
like i told you before, my situation was the same like you. the DP in my area is also near to my house but all the ports are taken up already. so when there was a free port, tm installer did not use the dp near to my house because it was already full but used another DP that is a bit further away to install my unifi
I have a DP right next to my house but my port is at the next DP down the road. Since we can observed any ports taken with a fiber termination box sticking out at the wall and from the wires coming down from the DP to the fiber termination box I don't see that many that does not allow me to use the DP closest to me.
There will be a port for each house. I am thinking each stretch of road has a certain bandwidth limit. So there is always a port for you but not so much the speed that you want. So if everyone in your street takes 30Mbps, it may be full and only 10Mbps is available. Cause the last time I upgraded from VIP5 to VIP10 they need to make sure ports are available.
I know my area well and I don't see many FTBs so it's impossible if it's not available. There are two such box in every home. One from the main line to your home internal line and another one from your home internal wiring to the BTU modem.
And since last year govt budget that allows everyone to double up, the one that is probably limiting the bandwidth is the main gateway where the DPs are connected to. Therefore I am guessing this needs time to upgrade that why I only get my updated speeds two months ago.
