Hi, hopefully someone can answer some of my questions here. I have been using the Rm149 package for about 5 years now and i’ve just noticed that there is a Rm159 package at a faster speed.
As an existing customer, can i upgrade my package to this or is it for new customers only? Will I be under a 2 years contract?
Router and modem will be changed to the new one too?
Thanks.

QUOTE(voncrane @ Jan 10 2018, 11:00 PM) At this very late stage.. Best you can do is call TM up and try to negotiate a better package. Best so far is RM179 for 100Mbps... Which I can only think of one user who reported such.. Else, it's mostly RM189 for 100Mbps and RM139 for 30Mbps...Discount ranges from only for the next 2 years contract or perpetual as long as account remains with TM.. Some people got hardware changes.. Depends on what package you are upgrading to and if current hardware isn't supported and or needs replacement.. I see, so it's not for all. I was also looking at Maxis since it's cheaper but some reviews said Maxis is worst than Unifi.

Hi, i’ve just offset my points against my bill, may I know when will it be reflected? My billing date is 7th every month.
I’m going to terminate my current line so I was wondering when it will be shown in the billing. Even if they pro rate, I’m not sure whether the offset credit will be shown.
In short, my package is the old package where I’m paying Rm149 for 10 Mbps. One tm agent suggested to cancel this and take the new package at Rm139 but have to register under another name. Just wondering, after 2 years when it is back to the normal price, can I downgrade if I want to?

QUOTE(enduser @ Jan 27 2018, 09:53 AM) After 2 years ur will be out of contract. Basically u can do anything without kena penalty. Can upgrade , downgrade, change package or change isp altogether. Yea, you are right. If they don't allow existing users to change to promo package, i will just cancel it. I was wondering, can we request for the same house number if i cancel and register under someone else? Also, how long is the Rm139 30Mbps promo period? I read somewhere it's till end of March but another link says end of Jan.

Hi all, would need some advise on unifi cable installation. I had unifi wires installed in my walls/ceiling about 6-7 years ago during a major renovation.
I've cancelled the old package and taken a new one. The installers will come tomorrow. Would it be better to put new wires but may be through the normal way/ in the ceiling?
Secondly, my old router and modem were kept at the 1st floor at one corner. Due to this, the whole downstairs barely could get any signal. If i were to use 2 routers, would it solve the problem? I don't think i can move the location of the modem/router because the cctv dvr is next to it.

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Feb 9 2018, 10:08 PM) It might be feasible to get one router, and one AP, that is connected to it, and this AP can be downstairs. But, how big is your houses. I would recommend you get one router that is really good and a high end router which cost more can probably do it. I would recommend the Asus RT-AC1300UHP or if you want something better, you can try the TP Link C3150 v2. Depends on your budget. Sorry for asking, the AP here means access point? So i should connect the router to another router that is downstairs? House is a long double story terrace. What is the price range of the router that i'm looking at?

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Feb 9 2018, 11:56 PM) Yes, AP means access point. You can connect your main router to another router, that is downstairs, but make sure your router is configured as an AP. Or you can use a powerline, it’s up to you. Oh bro, if it is just a double story terrace, I would recommend the Asus RT-AC1300UHP. Price is between RM500-RM550, depending on which seller you get it from. See here: https://www.lazada.com.my/catalog/?q=Asus+r....3fb57407dOWQhuNoted, thanks. By the way, is there a life span for fiber optic cables? I already have cables in the wall which are 7 years now. Also, does fiber optic wires differ from the internet speed package we take?

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Feb 10 2018, 10:46 AM) My house’s fibre optic cables is 11 years old, and still working fine, so I would think there would be no problems there. Fiber optic wires just dictate what internet speed package you can subscribe to. So, if you have fibre optic cables in your house, you can subscribe to Unifi, maybe up 100Mbps. Awesome, unifi installers are coming in shortly, I will ask them to check the existing wires too. Thanks again. 😊

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Feb 10 2018, 11:12 AM) how long is long? my own exp... 50 ft is no problem, 55ft is probably still ok, 60ft starts to get difficult. some superlink houses have a footprint >70ft - this will be difficult for a single router, however good. best to install LAN cable, place router AP on lower floor, center of house. using wireless repeater/extender will not work well... too much loss as yr house is "long". I think it’s 70/75 feet and the house is extended fully for the front and back, both floors. The tm technician just checked and he recommended the same, to add an AP on the lower floor. I told him that I can barely get any signal on the lower floor previously.
