Hi everyone. Looking for a new router to replace my ASUS RT-N12HP. Upgraded to 30MBps and this router I have now would reach only half of 30MBps at times.

Looking at :
-TP Link Archer C7
-D-Link DIR-850L
(both above are in the similar price range)
I am also considering :
-ASUSRT-AC55UHP
-TP Link Archer C9
(which are both RM100 more expensive)

My priorities are :
-good wireless range
-stablitiy
-support connections of 10-15 devices

rtn12hp... i am surprised.

.. u mean u NOW can get only 1/2 x 30mbps? or it has always been like that?
.. do u mean ethernet or wifi? or both?
.. do u mean all or just some devices?

Not sure when it started happening, but it could have been after I upgraded to 30MBps.

Just the wifi. Had a Unifi technician come to check out. Ethernet connection can consistently output at least 24MBps.

Have not done a speedtest on every single device but all devices that are tested show around the same dl speed.

Could it be because of wear and tear? Have been using it for 5-6 years already.

Couldn't help it but it's 30Mbps.. 1 Byte = 8 bits. If it's 30MBps, that's 240Mbps. laugh.gif

Right. Thanks for the memo.

the rtn12hp is good for up to 50mbps, ethernet+wifi.

i used it for 4 years, trouble free.

u should do more tests... ethernet, wifi to ascertain if it is unifi, router, some poor device or your own wifi conditions.

more than often it's just poor wifi due to poor antenna positioning or expecting good results at too far a distance or blind corners.

however, if u wish to change, u can consider rtac1300uhp - this one will take 100mbps wifi 50 ft easy... i m using one now.

Did you test with another device? Another pc or phone perhaps

Did more tests and I can infer that it is probably the placement of the router. Will try to figure out if it really is by placing it in a more central location, if it is the same result would consider changing.
Thanks for the input and advice guys! icon_rolleyes.gif
