I don't think there is a standard system which in itself quite confusing and chaotic. I received a SMS with a job order out of the blue. I only responded after 2 weeks and was told it was a free upgrade no extra cost involved from 50 to 100. This would be my 2nd upgrade. I am on the 198 plan. Apparently they just need to book a appointment to change the router.

199 you mean?
We are paying RM 189 after upgrade but of course yours has no contract refresh if free upgrade.
And yes, no standard package and as if it follows the telemarketer's mood.
*
Can't remember 198 or 199 but its bloody chaotic and unsystematic. I didn't even make a request for a job order. The good thing is however, the lady who attended to me was very polite and made the whole experience pleasant.

Just finish free upgrade from 50mbps to 100mbps. Install lasted 5 mins since no need to change router as using my own. They did leave a brand new TP-Link AC1200 with me as backup/spare.

Just occurred to me that my billing day is the 28th and the install is today which is the 27th. I wonder if that was planned by TM or just a coincidence.
*
They didn’t give u a choice of dates and timing for the install?

Nice. What did they do? Just change the BTU? Did they test anything other than the speed?
*
No need to change BTU. Test speed and configuration. That’s it.

Nope, received an SMS out of the blue with the installation date last Thursday.
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=87133408

Then on Friday, got a call from CS to inform me of the afternoon installation on Monday. I asked about morning but she said it was full.
*
I got a phone call out of the blue about 3 weeks ago but told them to call back as I was in a meeting. Received sms informing me of impending installation order but I never made any such request. Last week I decided to call them to ask what it was about and was informed I had a free upgrade - no extra charges incurred from my current bill but speed upgrade to 100mbps. They gave me a choice of days and timing as well.

Is this for the Thank You Surprise upgrade from 50 to 100mbps?
*
No idea what scheme/ upgrade is this but I was one of the early adopters for Unifi. Now if only they would include free Jumbo pack as part of my deal. brows.gif

I wonder if there’s anything to do with they have to actually convert us to 100mbps plan first? If it’s 50mbps isn’t it we will still get 50mbps when the technician comes over?
*
Actually in my case, the switch was done 2 days before when they called to verify details such as ic etc. Right after the call, my connection went dead and was reconnected about 20mins later. I was suspicious and did a speedtest. The techinician that appears today was just to install router since they assume I didn't have a gigabit capable router.

Interesting. Cause my ONU went dead on Sunday afternoon around the same time the status was changed to PONR. But it never came back on. No internet and no phone for the rest of Sunday. The CS who called on Friday warned me that this would happen.
*
Yeah but just discovered my DECT phone not working though.

Yeah. Although both of my router and BTU does have Gigabit ethernet ports, but they still insist on sending someone over
Not sure why
Already told them that, but they still insist on coming

I'm on FTTH, not VDSL
*
I think for one thing they have to get u to sign the forms.

Mine did show 100mbps before technician appear but the last few days, speed has been unstable and getting slower and slower - till the point my upload is faster than my download. Turn the BTU off, waited a minute, back on again - speed returned to 100mbps.

Which Speedtest did you use? TM's or the speedtest.net?
Sometimes the speedtest just hang. Not sure how much should i trust it.
My speed is intermittent but not as bad as yours (DL lower than UL).
Using local servers? Which speedtest?
*
I use various Speedtest measurements never relying on TM. I have found switching the BTU off and then on again helps - like a reset switch.

QUOTE(vez @ Dec 7 2017, 09:19 PM)
i notice a problem after upgrade to 100Mbps last week

i tried with TPLink C1200 and my own ASUS-RT68U

i reconnect to WAN, ANY IP tried... i will get 100Mbps++
then i do speedtest one day later, it will always stuck at 70Mbps, after few hours also same, i disconnect and reconnect from my router (not restart, just through router web ui disconnect and connect again), do speedtest again and get 100Mbps++, next morning try still 100Mbps++

after come back from work at night, do again speed test, become 70Mbps...

i repeated the above process for couple of days just to verify with my router and TM TPLink router, both giving same result... reconnect get 100Mbps, after the connection stay for one day+, become 70Mbps, no matter how.... until i reconnect, back to 100Mbps

anyone have this issue?

i have try disconnect all other device before doing speed test just to ensure only one PC connected (using LAN) for speedtest
*
I face the same issue and it progressively gets slower until I reset the BTU. There are days my upload speed is faster than my download speed.

i didnt do heavy download, i repeated monitor for 8-9 days already, using two different router, all having similar issue, reconnect, up to 100Mbps++, after one day... drop to 70Mbps until i reconnect... go back 100Mbps++  bangwall.gif
*
Not sure why they would throttle at all. I am not downloading anything either.

Hey guys - wondering if anyone could weigh in on a question i have.

Looking to change my router to the Asus RT AC88U - but the prices here in KL are pretty expensive. Therefore I'm looking to order it and get it internationally shipped (as long as it works out cheaper).

My one question is - I know the local asus routers have 'unifi compatibility' and I'm wondering if I get one shipped from the US, for example, would I have any difficulty setting it up with Unifi?
I'm guessing the compatibility means that you can select unifi in the settings and things are much easier to setup.

I have direct experience in this - I bought my AC88U in Singapore since its so much cheaper. Setting up is a breeze and will work flawlessly. smile.gif

Upgraded to 100 mbps a few weeks ago. TM supplied a router which is being kept as a spare since I am running AC88U. Weird anomaly - Speedtest drops over several days till the point my upload is faster than my download. Resetting the BTU solves this problem until it reoccurres again each time and always over a span of several days. Scratch head...

Are you guys still facing this issue?

Experiencing the same problem ever since I've upgraded to 30Mb/s from 10Mb/s.

The strangest thing is the speed drop is very consistent every time it happened. It started at 30Mb/s, then after 1-3 days, it dropped to 20Mb/s then another 1-3 days, it dropped to 10Mb/s. Disconnecting and reconnecting with another new IP address will solve it i.e. speed back at 30Mb/s but over time it will consistently drop again.

I'm not sure what's causing it. Only minimal usage the last few weeks. Never happened before when I was using 10Mb/s.

Yes still facing this problem. If u find a solution pls update. Am traveling so can’t do anything bout it at the moment.

Thank You for reply.

Hi btfan, vez, chaos32

Did you manage to resolve the issue that speed dropped from 100mbps to lower speed after bit torrent?
I'm facing the similar issue, i'm using Asus AC68U router and frequently BT. If i re-connect to TM then the speed will be back to 105mbps.

I just logged a ticket to TM, they will send Technician over but i wonder what they can do....
*
I just got back into town and yes still facing issue but in my case it’s not BT related, just regular usage. It’s not throttling in my case since I do not download. I am using AC88U.

Pls let us know if TM provides a solution.

Update to my UNIFI 100mbps issue:

TM came to my house and they noticed that i'm using Asus AC68U instead of TPLINK hence they don't know how to check the optimum setting, but they told me if for TPLINK we need to disable "NAT boost", i found for Asus below is that setting:

[attachmentid=9479108]

Also, the technician called their server side department to reset my 100mbps profile, they suspect the profile is not applied properly.

I have been using same IP for almost 48 hours and done almost 150GB BT so far speed still maintain at 110mbps.  rclxms.gif
So for those using Asus and having same issue, please check whether you have "NAT Acceleration" enabled.

Thanks. Appreciate the update.
