Guys, what should i do when subscribed for 30mbps, but speedtest only shown 5mbps? Fyi, im staying at high rise condo. is it normal?
If i complain, would it help to resolve the problems? "Thinking of downgrading" #feelscheatedĀ

THIS! I'm on 50Mbs, and I'm getting the same problem. I'me getting as low as 3-5mbps, even for some local servers. I actually complained to TM, and they want to send someone to my house this week, but no one will be around, so their way of dealing with this is to close the report and ask me to call again next well.
Anyway, give this a try so we can compare.
1. On speedtest.net, try YTL Broadband, MyKris, and Universiti Tenaga Nasional local servers. These should be fast. I get near full speed on these.
2. Try any other local server, including TM KL server. I get only 6Mbps down on the TM KL server. If any traffic is routing through this server, that might explain the crappy speeds.
3. International servers, whether SG, JP, or US, I get from 2-5Mbps, but can get higher upload speeds up to 15Mbps.
For me, I don't get why they need to come to my house to test. The fact that I can access YTL, MyKris, and UTN servers at full 50/20 means the line isn't the issue. It's their routing. Unfortunately, I have to wait till next week before I can deal with this issue again.
One thing though, is that some downloads don't seem to be affected. But the inherent problem of these >30Mbps is that we are not as sensitive to slowdowns as we were when we were on Streamyx or VIP5. That means it is also possible for us users to get less than 50Mbps during browsing and not be aware of it. But that also means that ISPs can get away with giving less as long is the user gets a speed that's "fast enough". Of course, that is more like to happen for things like browsing and video streaming, but not direct downloading / torrenting where download speed info is visible.
But I'm glad someone brought this up. Hate to say it, but at least it isn't just me, so at least I know it's not my equipment or line.
BTW, can someone clarify this RM50(?) charge that will be imposed on your next bill if TM comes to your house to check? They can only charge is the equipment fault is on my premise, right?
