after changing to 100mbps, it seems like only LATEST phone can use the 100mbps. the others all still stuck at maximum 50mbps; and that also if the speed can reach that high 50.
laptop and computer all stuck at 100
can anyone shed a light on this matter?
*
The latest phone support channel bonding, but the older phone doesn’t. You need channel bonding for WiFi to achieve the maximum speed. Keep in mind that channel bonding is only appropriate and optimized for 5GHz, and not 2.4GHz.

that means my laptop all cannot use la the 100mbps?

I thought you mentioned in your post that your laptop is stuck at 100? You meant 50 then. Yes, it is possible for laptop to use 100Mbps. Just purchase a wireless adapter that can support 5GHz and AC.

Any wireless adapter that support 5GHz/AC is appropriate.

do u have any recommendations or examples coz i am lousy when it comes to hardware
*
Okay bro, I would recommend TP-Link AC wireless adapters. So, it will either be the Archer T2U, Archer T2UH, Archer T4U, Archer T4UH, or Archer T4UHP.

You can try D-Link too if you want. It will be DWA-171, DWA-172, DWA-182, or DWA192.

Alternatively, there are other brands out there too like Tenda, or Asus. It’s really up to you.

i have TP Link Archer C1200.

but the wifi speed is quite horrendous at only 30-60mbps for 100mbps

any recommendations of the channel width and channel for speed optimization??
*
You have to use a Wifi Analyzer to see which channel is least congested and adjust accordingly. If you are using Android, use Wifi Analyzer by farproc. If you prefer computer, use Acrylic WiFi.

QUOTE(biggie @ Dec 11 2017, 07:22 PM)
I am using d850 ( my own, v1) happily without much problem, however after the thank you upgrade tm gave me c1200. For the 1st time my 3 storey house got full wifi signal all over the hiuse as opposed patched here and there.

However, with c1200 speed really slow. Only got 100mbps at restart, then become worse..there after. With d850, speed remains constant and no restart required. But some part of the hiuse only 1-2bar, and speed also slow.

So now thinking of getting another router that combine both (speed and coverage). Any suggestions? Looking at d868? Is it worth it? My household has about 10 devices and nearly all stream hd content. Got nas connected to usb of the router.
*
Bro, I am using TP Link AC3150 v2 and I can highly recommend the router as it combines both speed and coverage plus it can support NAS too, with a USB 3.0 port.

However, if you want something better and have a big budget, I would recommend the high end Asus routers.

My Unifi connection keeps disconnecting and connecting with very slow speed. Any of you experiencing this issue?
I'm staying in PJ btw, which never happened before.  cry.gif
It's been like that for a couple of days.

Called in yesterday to complain, and called today again.
Then say technician will call me to check my modem. (Which I don't think is the issue)  sad.gif

Could be router overheating or failing issue, or modem, or line problem. Too many variables to consider.

Thank you. Got a very bad experience with tpac1200, none happy. How is the setup like, easy?
*
Very easy with the TP Link AC3150 v2. It is much better, than AC1200.

My solutions to this is to change the router. I reuse my D850, and all the website fast again.  Downsides is that on areas in my house got low wifi coverage and speed slows down considerably (similar to pre thank you surprise). Area with good coverage always consisten 85-100.

Thinking of c3150 since serious security issue on D850. However, bad experience with c1200 means thats why I a bit wary on on tp-link product.
*
It is a very good router and I am using it at the moment. V2 to be precise. Don’t compare it to C1200, as it is not a fair comparison. Definitely worth the buy and not as bad as C1200.

Done in 30 mins.
Surprisingly they still give me the new router. Said that this is their procedure. Cuz I already using the latest router, so they did not change for me. Ask me to keep it.
But unifi platform still haven't update package, shall wait tmr.
*
Yes, they have to give you the new router. It’s yours. Don’t have to change if you have something better.

just curious...i am using dual antennas ac1200 which was provided when they installed 30Mbps in feb...
then after upgrading from 30 > 50 > 100Mbps...tm didn't change my dual antennas ac1200

will they change the router to this 3-antenna ac1200 for me if i request ?
*
Don’t think they would if yours is still working. Would, recommend you getting your own router if possible.

TM's new speedtest interface looks better now!
biggrin.gif

Yep, they are using Ookla Speedtest custom speedtest API. You can get it too. See below.

QUOTE(soonwai @ Dec 15 2017, 02:43 PM)
Nice! You can get your own here.

*
You can design your own speedtest, but you just need to pay $1995 USD a year lol.

Got free one also. Here's mine. It's just an iframe. No API needed.

Ah, you are using the free option. Good job soonwai and thank you for the lesson. Please don’t tell me TM is using the free version lol.

I think they're paying for it. Expensive USD1995! Cause you can see that they're configured a custom speedtest server.

Lazy 1 minute HTML to add this to your website.

Just replace UnifiisDowninSgLong with your own.

At least they are paying for it, which is the right way to go for an ISP that can afford it for sure. Thanks for the code thumbup.gif rclxms.gif

something weird i noticed on my 100Mbps

i restart router and few days without torrent, the speed can maintain at 100Mbps when i run speedtest
if i restart router and torrent, the speed drop to 60Mbps after one day... never can back to 100Mbps, then i restart router again it back to 100Mbps  blink.gif

i have repeated test the above scenario, only happen when i torrent... i try different torrent client, same problem  sweat.gif
i try direct download for few days, big files at least 10GB+ for few times, no issue at all

in fact i am not heavily using torrent, just leave few seed.. i tried with different router, the C1200 provided by TM and my own Asus router, same problem  doh.gif

I think they are trying to throttle your connection bro, which is very bad and not surprising of them to do.

15/12 Went to TM point Jalan Yong Shook Lin to upgrade from 50 to 100mbps, previously called 100 confirmed that my acc eligible for the upgrade even I didn't
receive the SMS

18/12
11am    - Random speedtest on phone and found out speed already upgraded. Hypptv also became Jumbo
1.30pm - Contractor came and just change my router to C1200 with minimal configuration on router only. BTU remain same Huawi hg8240w.
The max DL speed only 95-96mbps after few speedtest via LAN. The contractor said he can't do anything, ask me to call TM complain.

After few rounds of testing on my own, C1200 really unstable so I use back my own Archer C5 which much more better.

But still I can't hit 100mbps via LAN. Is this normal? Can I complain to TM to ask for speed cap increase to 105mbps so I can get 100mbps?
*
C1200 is indeed unstable. So, it is good if you can use your C5. Not too sure if it will be possible for you to hit the 100Mbps unfortunately as it depends on many factors.

Hahahaha... i org cari makan only la. If i rich, i don't stay in Malaysia liao lo, LOL
well, just try to make sure the network is secure ma, then no others can use it free and make my line slow, its unfair ma if i need to pay with my blood and sweat money while others just use it for free. rite? tongue.gif

QUOTE(voncrane @ Dec 19 2017, 05:21 PM)
Hahaha.. Make your wireless password encryption levels at least WPA2 and if your router supports it...WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode is quite strong. Won't keep a dedicated hacker out but more than enough to keep the average script kiddie/neighbors out.. Of course, if you go set password as "abc12345" or some weak password like that..you deserve to get piggybacked. tongue.gif
*
I would suggest WPA2 only, and disabling both WPS, and UPNP, and disabling remote management as well, and if possible, change the HTTP port to access your router from port 80 to a not well known port so not somewhere between port 1 - 1024, and set your firewall to not respond to WAN ping. You will be quite safe then.

Im using same modem with you but router of C1200 instead.
I can never get full speed by connecting 2.4ghz, but 5 Ghz always no problem.
Our modem confirmed it's GE port.
I also have no idea why 2.4ghz cannot reach,
even TM technician telling that it cannot reach, ask me to connect 5 ghz instead if possible.
*
It cannot reach full speed when you connect to 2.4GHz as there is interference and congestion on the wireless network in your area caused by multiple wireless devices and AP. 5GHz can reach full speed, as there is less congestion and intereference on that band. See here: https://www.howtogeek.com/222249/whats-the-...should-you-use/

Hi,

Any one can teach where to find the setting for "Disabling remote management" on ZTE (2 in 1) device given by TM?

Thanks.
*
Not too sure where that is bro. I would suggest just exploring the router.
