the phone is an item under contract between the girl and maxis. by right she cannot sell the phone until the term of contract expires. but she sold it anyway, without knowledge or approval of maxis. now she didnt pay bill as per contract, so it is maxis right to lock the phone irregardless who is actually using the phone. you are not a party in the contract so u have no say.

this is like kereta sambung bayar arrangement, which is illegal.

zerolution means the owner go buy the phone via credit with maxis.

monthly they will pay the package price plus the phone price. without credit card.  like maxis give u credit.

so when owner tak bayar bill maxis rugi la. then phone kena block.  i guess the only way to find out is ask the owner for receipt of purchase lo.

i believe this lock is not the usual apple iCloud lock.
Just phone blocked from use in Malaysia telco. ie, can't call/sms/data only.
I dont think Maxis can totally lock out the phone.

Can still use phone for others, wifi, games, etc.

from what i can see, you only got few options:
1) get original owner to pay the bills and finish the contract (very likely to be impossible)
2) you pay off the contract yourself (stupid move)
3) continue to use as iPod (haha)
4) sell off to another country (looks like the best solution)
