Hi all !

I'm a Freelance Personal Trainer , a tuition teacher and also a badminton coach , the thing is i work all of these job with rather sporadic schedules.

for example , ill be working 6am-7am , 10am-11am, 4pm-5pm then 9am-10am on a daily basic, so i do have a lot of freetime in between

with that said i'm thinking of doing GRAB part time to maximize my timings and all.

But if i were to do so i would have to fork out a decent amount of cash to get a new car, i currently drive a 1986 Isward ( lel )

I'm thinking if i were to do GRAB maybe 3 hours a day for 6x a week ( let's say i can earn RM15 an hour so it'll be 18 x 15 ) so it'll be an additional RM270 a week as a part time driver , or is that too optimistic ?

I do have a few friends working GRAB fulltime and they said GRAB isn't worth doing parttime anymore for some reason.

So what do you guys think ?

i would rather say not worth doing full time since so insecure.
anytime can get banned for unknown reason.

how much u frens are getting every month ? by doing 10-12 hrs per day, includes weekends ?

part time still okay since u just want to occupy ur time.
can expect net ard *RM10-RM20 depends on luck and time to drive.
*change from time to time as crapcar is keep reducing the incentive payout.
as at now, i am getting ard RM200 incentive and gross fare ard 450 per week.
total net i am getting ard RM300plus, by driving ard 50-60 trips per week.

but if u purposely want to get a new car, please forget it.

I would say that your sporadic job schedule is very suitable for doing grab. RM270 a week with RM15/hour can be easily achieved(assuming you are in KV). If you can do 6 hours a day at hours below, RM1k a week is also possible.

7am-9am (2hours)
12am-2pm (2hours)
5pm-7pm (2hours)

Regarding to whether it is still worth doing or not is really depending on one's definition, though definitely the income per hour has dropped a lot since Grab lowered and lowered the incentives. One thing to note though, you should make sure your other income can pay for your new car instalments if grab suddenly ban you from driving.

BTW, if you still haven't signed up with Grab, please do it ASAP as after 14-Aug, new drivers will be charged 25% commission.

For fun = don't care if worth it or not

Caring if it is worth it or not doesn't seems like driving for fun.

Make sure your driving skill is good or else you might end up losing money (accidents and stuff do happens on the road)

Sorry for double post. Is that mean incentives is not available for me right? The special weekly trip bonus is only for ambassador right?

I wouldn't say not caring ... well actually ... hmm ... the thing is my current job does make decent money but i work so few hours a day and when my clients goes overseas im left stranded , so I'm thinking of taking GRAB as a safety net sort of speak and also to bolster my income

If you have a car already, go ahead.
If you need to buy a new car just for this. Forget it.

New car = new commitment
You need to service it as authorized service center
You need to driving under constant stress (to not bang it, unless YDGAF at all which a lot people can't do so to a new car)

If there is already plan to buy a new car to replace current car, you wanna just this platform as a way to pay for the monthly installment, you don't mind the tiring and boresome driving on road for those few hour daily. Go ahead.

But as I said, make sure you are a pretty good driver first.
Don't need another kayu on road to causes accident.

Think again !!

Without knowing your next rider's destination, you could be heading for Setapak while your next appointment is in Subang.
I had this problem when I used to drive for Uber, most of the time have to stop driving 1 hour prior to the next appointment.

Grab should be more suitable for TS.

That's true, with TS's schedule mostly in 2-3 hours slot, Grab would be more suitable for TS.
