earlier this month i went to klinik dr ko in ttdi. my mind was set on getting accutane because i was fed up with my skin conditions. the moment i was seated in front of the doctor i just told him i wanted accutane and nothing else. i left the office with 35 pills of accutane (purple ones, perhaps 20mg?) where i have to take 2 pills for the first five days and one pill for the next 30 days. he also prescribed me antibiotics which i'm supposed to take 2 everyday. altogether, they cost me rm330.

the doctor assured me that in future months he will prescribe me dosage which i can take every few days instead of everyday so i don't have to spend so much. it depends on how my skin improves of course.

not sure... in the receipt that i got it doesn't mention any consultation fees tho. i don't think there is any problem changing doctors as long as you told the new one how much you've been prescribed before.

how many months have you been on the medication?

Isotretinoin blocks your oil gland from functioning. If you don't change your lifestyle, you'll be stuck to it for a long time until your oil glands are goners. Then you'll be stuck with another thing that supposed to function like your oil glands.

In another words, you'll be taking meds to stop your glands from functioning. Then when it's totally dysfunctional, you need another med to do what your dysfunctional glands are supposed to do.

Yeaaa......that's what I hear from everyone lol. No worries, my biggest customers now are those isotretinoin victims or dysfunctional oil glands. Love them cause they're stuck with me for life laugh.gif

BTW, it'll look uglier than pimples. Guys usually don't bother how they look by then, but ladies tend to pay 5 to 10 times the price of isotretinoin to remedy the damage it has done.

I can't suggest item names or solutions because I don't know you condition. You need to learn your own skin condition, type & what's the possible causes.

Isotretinoin shrinks the human oil gland. So your skin can't produce oil that clogs up your pores & causes inflammation. A little bit of oil is necessary but overproduction of oil is a problem. So the question is, why is it overproducing oil? You need to learn what's the function of oil or sebum for our skin besides causing pimples. It's like our saliva, our sweat, urine or acid in our stomach. Our body produces all those for a good reason (and of course overproduction is bad as usual). So when human tries to be funny & defy nature by stopping it entirely. Naturally our body will start to deform.

Usually when you take isotretinoin, they'll sell antibiotics or some antibacterial stuff to you. Why? This is to prevent bacteria from causing the pimples. Do you notice some people with non-oily or dry skin also has pimples? So for these kinda people, they don't need isotretinoin cause obviously their pimple isn't caused by oil clogging their pores. It's caused by bacteria.

Those are the few factors & causes. Once you understand your condition & identified the cause, then only look for right solution. Not just hentam take whatever other people take or recommend.

Have anyone experienced with severe acne before? Yes, I do mean those crytic acnes with all juicy and big giant one. I used to have lots of acnes in the past 8 years and then stabalise back... But of course, once in a month, there will be acnes also, but only pop out one or two..

Recently, I went to take another isotretinoin course, 20mg daily dose. Now it's my 6 weeks, however, I realised that after taking this vitamin A, my face got worsen. Acnes getting more and more active with lots of big acnes keep coming. Is this normal in the early stage of the treatment? The medicine makes my acnes dry up so that it doesn't burst out but this will make the dirt leaves inside and swollen for a period of time. Making my face full of acnes now. Gosh, I am already 28 years old and I'm still experiencing this. This is really hard for me. I know isotretinoin is really good for acne as all derma will prescribe this for all severe acne patients but why my face got so terrible =(

Any doctors or patients here can share with me your experience on how you cope with those severe acnes?

Same here! I am currently on my 3rd month of isotretinoin, and guess what my face is still full of acne cry.gif

And I'm one of the people that has encountered Accutane 'flare-up' period, which like you said it made the acne worse. I would have probably over 50 cysts and acne all over my face, cry.gif cry.gif I still don't have clear skin yet after 3 months of taking them but compared to i first started, it is A LOT BETTER now. The previous one just kinda dried up themselves and it was damn painful. sad.gif(((

Well I can't give you any professional advice but I can say that I FEEL YOU BUDDY. So maybe sharing my experience with you would make you feel you're not alone in this! Also, Im not sure if this helps but if you perhaps speak Chinese, try to find more Accutane treatments especially in Taiwan Forum! They are pretty advance in Derma compared to Malaysia.
Apparently this lowyat forum is kinda dying now sad.gif

And don't give up! I wish for your speed recovery to clear skin! xoxo

if you have to use Vitamin A derivaties, then this means your acne is really bad. Make sure you do what a dermatologist advised, and dont get ro-accutane etc online.. its illegal and probably fake anyway.
About severe acne, despite heavy duty meds, you gotta know that many will suffer with facial facial marks and recurrence and multiple focal infections. All that we hv at the moment are just meds to reduce severity. Sorry man.

hello..may i know how is your dr ko treatment result? how long did you take the isotretinoin? did you buy their skin products and skin treatment?

because i have started my treatment at dr ko for 2 months and had took isotretinoin & antibacteria piles. but dr says my skin result is a little too slow. so dr suggested me to use their products (ie: purifying essence & acne therapy solution) & the extraction treatment.

i am so annoyed by my acne prone skin cuz i will get new acne with pus each week and a lot of whiteheads on my forehead & cheeks. my face wasn't that serious before as i dont have those whiteheads, just that i will get a few acne once a month. i have stopped using whatever skincares, never sleep late but still the problem doesn't seem to be solved. thats why i go for derma clinic haih

hopefully i could some reply and i really appreciate it..!!

Hello. Yeah, my skin is a lot better now. biggrin.gif I'm still using accutane—taking it twice a week— for maintenence.

My skin broke out like crazy in the first few months of taking the medication— a process widely known as "purging". You can just wait it out or you can follow your doctor's instructions in order to "tame" it. Eitherway, with enough time it will disappear. Don't worry.
