Hi guys,

I've noticed that ford ecosport is giving higher viewing and I like it as in SUV category.
Eco Sport 1.5 Trend is selling @ RM93k where Titanium is selling @ RM104k.

I read a couple of post and noticed some issues that people complained.

1) Outdated design
2) Gear Box issue
3) Unprofessional service given by SC

Haven't test drive yet, will plan to do it soon.

Anyway, need some comment from anyone of you who has owned this car about how's the maintenance charged..FC...etc..

My condition looking for this car :
1) Suv (High view, I need it!! mostly will face traffic jam while otw to work, so having a high view gives better sight.)
2) Budget 70-100k
3) Able to last for next 10 years(RV is fine with me as I don't plan to change car once i own it)
4) HRV also is part in my bucket list, but I think that the view is not as high as ecosport(correct me if I am wrong).

Your feedback is highly appreciated!

i an a ford owner. ecosport is ugly, uninspiring and really really outdated. you'd be better off with HR-V.

It not about the issues. It's about selling a 1.5l NA SUV at almost the same price as a HRV.

Edge is one segment above Kuga.

It's like comparing Focus to Mondeo or Civic to Accord.

2 more things you have to deal with Ecosport

- Dual clutch transmission with high clutch wear rate and stupid shift logic at low speeds.......depending on your luck.
- less than satisfying aftersales support, rare service center especially outside of klang valley
- poor interior quality

I drive a Fiesta, but it's a car that can be driven hard and I enjoy it when driven like so, the DCT is a lot of fun. An SUV however, how hard are you going to drive it?

Have to test drive first to experience the dual clutch transmission thing first...I saw alot ppl comment alot jerking at low speed, maybe thats the reason..
I am living in penang, so far there is 2-3 service center here, i think should be ok...
But with all these complaints, i think either I hav to deal with the issue or looking for other SUV...

Anyway, thanks for feedback!

As a Ford owner I too do not really recommend it unless you don't care much about performance. The only good thing, I think, going for this car is the price. An ex-colleague bought the Ecosport mainly for the low price as he basically is not into cars. All that's important to him is cheap and tall(SUV). The other Ecosport main selling point apart from the price is the capability of wading through high flood water, up to 500 or 600 mm if I am not mistaken. The advertisement was pushing for this feature when the car was first introduced to the market.

Since the demand for the car is low, perhaps higher discount more than RM10k is possible...

The Ecosport was developed in Brasil. It's a Ford the way the Avanza is a Toyota. It isn't. It was developed by not so good engineers for a market that only wants basic motoring and that doesn't care about ride quality, handling, fun, refinement, NVH. And it shows.

To me the design better as more modern, the space similar and the power a bit better...
Maintenance supposed murah bcz 5 years free and roadtax cheaper a lot compared to HR-V...
Juz the back seat pocket is hard to accept..

Last I heard from a Subaru sales person, the new 2017/2018 XV will be previewed and open for bookings here in Oct, with deliveries to begin in 2018. Therefore, they should start giving discounts to clear their stock anytime soon.

But if height is the biggest point you want, I'm wondering if the still-fairly new last generation Jimny that Suzuki introduced before exiting and surrendering the post-sales franchise to Proton would interest you. They're not common and used prices should be hovering between 70k to 80k for 2 or 3yr old units.
