QUOTE(TeckPeow @ May 4 2007, 02:00 AM) I think Van der Sar is the best goalkeeper in the football history... you must be joking why? because i am a Man utd fan!!!!! who is the best? VDS is not even in Peter Schmeichel class. You surely don't call yourself a Manchester United fan if you don't even know the Great Dane. QUOTE(Duke Red @ May 4 2007, 09:03 AM) Best reason ever! How old are you again? Yes, agree with you. And I think he joined in because of glory huntingHe's not even your best keeper ever. That distinction goes to Peter Schmeichel, and I'm sure most Man Utd fans will not disagree with that. You obviously aren't old enough to have seen the great Dane in goal. QUOTE(TeckPeow @ May 4 2007, 07:02 PM) look at the poll, brother.... Van der Sar is leading... Fact doesn't lie!!!! He is the best keeper... end of. You surely never read the title. Just go youtube and search peter schmeichel. There are tons of his extraordinary saves that you think it is unlikely to happen. Just look at how he saves and why we put him as 1 of the world's best goalie. This post has been edited by stevanistelrooy: May 5 2007, 04:00 AM |

QUOTE(TeckPeow @ May 4 2007, 07:02 PM) look at the poll, brother.... Van der Sar is leading... You said he was the best keeper EVER you fool. He may be amongst the best keepers now but to say he was your best keeper ever is just showing your ignorance. I've seen your posts on other threads and you're one of those "We are the best!" posters. Piss off and come back when you develop some substance. Fact doesn't lie!!!! He is the best keeper... end of. |

Bruce Grobbelaar, Peter Schmeichel, Ray Clemence, David Seamen, Nigel Martyn all worse than Van Der Sar?

Up until today, I'm probably the only person I know that is wondering how Barthez was nominated goalkeeper of the tournament back then. I have always had a fascination for goalkeepers and pay particular attention to them. I remember Barthez playing behind an excellent back four and the only reason I can imagine he won the accolade, was because he conceded the least amount of goals, if I remember correctly. Much of it though was down to the defenders. I mean no offence to Man Utd supporters, but I've always thought of him as just an average goalkeeper. Well maybe a little above average, but definitely overrated by many. That's just my opinion.

He did provide comic relief |

all great goalkeepers can be capable of a blunder or two. They are not perfect

A little OT but this save by Gordon Banks from Pele is until today, touted by many to be the greatest save ever made. Banks dives down low to his right to lift Pele's goal bound header over the top post. The camera angle doesn't do justice to the quality of the save though.

I remembered he made some very acrobatic saves, can't pin point which match though, I was only 8 that time. But the only two players I noticed in the tournament were Zidane and him.
