just realized that the next service which is 100,000 km (60 months) service actually due on 20/07/2017 or 88,5xx km whichever comes 1st... so, this is going to be the 1st time my forte doesn't follow the schedule since the warranty period already ended sad.gif currently as of 25/07/2017, ODO is at 85,5xx km and will going for next service before 88,5xx km sweat.gif

Guys, do you all follow the service schedule for your Kia Forte service?

So even if the mileage is less than the recommned to change the part but the number of months is met, do we still change the part?

Thanks!
*
I ignore mth, folo mileage only coz seldom use
That's why i'm using semi only, if fully, die la if folo mth

Hi guys / otais,

I am planning to get Kia Forte for weekend and long distance travel / balik kampung (kuantan, terengganu).
The 1.6 version, is it really underpowered?
I read from a few site people are saying the 1.6 is underpowered for the body.
And lastly, any common issue about the car?
*
If use lpt hway ok la
If old road, don't
Better take elantra turbo

QUOTE(Bassraptor @ Aug 5 2017, 10:41 AM)
The Forte 1.6 is a good car for whatever use, if you're not crazy about power or torque. I had generally trouble-free ownership for the 7 years I owned one. The only times it didn't start was when battery died. My was a 2010/4-speed auto model.

Brake discs were skimmed after six years.

Aircon compressor hose replaced after six-and-a-half years. Replacement at authorised SC was almost 1k.

Fuel pump sensor also replaced after six years, it suddenly stopped working and dashboard indicator showed empty while tank was still full. About RM200.

Car was recalled once, also after almost six years, to upgrade brake pedal switch (this was a global recall).

There was the usual 10k service/6 month-interval service. My car had about 110,000km on it when I sold it 2 months ago.

For me, it served its purpose well, about 95% city use. Yes, been outstation a few times, and also sat in the back during these times to let relief driver take wheel, and was very comfortable.

So, I wasn't aware of any issues - i heard stories about camber alignment issues, but this seemed to vary with tyre service centres.

My friend has a 2.0 from 2010, 4-speed. His biggest bill was the steering rack/motor (the 2.0 has electric, the 1.6 uses hydraulic)... SC quoted him about 10k but I got it knocked down for him by 40%.

Build quality was superb for the price.

Hope this helps in your decision... used Forte is one of the best value buys, if it was generally trouble-free to start with. I had intended to keep mine longer but some personal circumstances necessitated selling it.

I moved up to a 2.0 Cerato.
*
2.0 at 95k for sure value buy
My 2010 cbu version also trouble free
5km km interval
Brake pad n vbelt pun not chg yet
The biggest bill is 4 new set of tyres
Lucky my steering isu only coupling so cheaper
Now i dunno what to repair, xde benda rosak, loan pun dah abis
So just save money for new elantra turbo lorrr

QUOTE(Bassraptor @ Aug 6 2017, 08:31 PM)
Haha, you're right... I do miss it.. 7 years after all and many good memories...only natural. But it had to go for non-motoring reasons....  mellow.gif

I keep browsing Mudah.my for any used Forte Koup...  innocent.gif
*
Forte koup design is nice
They should retain it but they replace with cerato koup where until today i kenot fine 1 on the road

QUOTE(kord @ Aug 7 2017, 08:14 AM)
yup, the 6-spd also got..bit confusing tho because u need to use the stick and end up upshift when u actually wanted to downshift vice-versa..  sweat.gif
*
Dun understand, my 4 speed is upshift for naik gear

I understand from one Hyundai mechanic that the stock rims for the Forte is actually very soft, therefore prone to dents. Best if you can find a set of 2nd hand rims or splurge on some new ones.

Cos I'm servicing outside and current service workshop do not carry Kia ori sp Iv, only has castrol atf which the guy say can be used as well. Never tried other atf as well so I need advise here. Yes, its not under warranty and i have to pay for it...

Ignition coil - that's the function as you mentioned above.

According to the SC people and i met one of the Forte's owner there, its quite common case for Forte that the ignition coil at no. 1 position need to be changed.

Actually i think its should be long lasting part, maybe its a special case for Forte.
*
4 common things for forte
- steering rack coupling
- rear wheel bearing
- side mirror motor / plastic gear
- ign coil
