I'm using Maxis Fiber 10 mbps. Since yesterday I discovered that I can't connect to certain sites such as:

microsoft.com
wikipedia.org
yahoo.com
lowyat.net

The connection seems to fail when trying to establish a https secure connection. Most other sites like all Google sites, Facebook etc. work.

This holds true for three Windows 10 PCs on my home network. Needless to say, I'm confused.

I'm currently connecting to lowyat.net through my phone.

I don't have TeamViewer. Of course I've restarted modem, router and all computers multiple times. Symptoms persist despite changing browsers. I usually use Chrome. I downloaded and installed a fresh copy of Firefox. Same problems. The same goes for Microsoft Edge.

I can't find a single website that I can't connect to using http only. It seems to affect only some https connections.

I've checked for malware using Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. Nothing turns up.

All other Internet services seem to work, including torrent, Steam etc.

Hi,

Go into your Router setting and configure the DNS Settings to Google. Alternatively, set the DNS in your Network properties.

8.8.8.8

And

8.8.4.4

It should fix it!

All the best...

It feels great to know that at least one other Maxis Fiber user is facing the same problem. At least we know that it's an ISP level issue. I also noticed that we now have an IPv6 address. Previously we only had an IPv4 address I think. Have you tried complaining yet? Hopefully they will fix this fast.

I use Google DNS by default. Switching between auto DNS settings and Google DNS doesn't solve the issue.

Wow, you are right. Disabling IPv6 does work. Using only IPv4, I can access all sites, even Google. How come you can't? So strange. Still need to test this further.

Looks like you have somehow configured it to use ipv6 only on Google? Anyway, I totally turned off ipv6 and everything is fine.

If I go to ipv6.google.com then of course it doesn't work. But the normal google.com works.

probably an issue with their ipv6 routing.

you could try using google's ipv6 dns servers and see if it resolves the issues.

The Google Public DNS IPv6 addresses are as follows:

2001:4860:4860::8888
2001:4860:4860::8844

I actually did do that earlier when diagnosing. Tracert does work. The issue isn't connecting to the sites. It's that it somehow can't negotiate a secure connection once it reaches them. Anyway, I'll do it again and post the results.

Well the trace works fine, so its not a routing issue.

Like you mentioned, I suspect it might have something to do with SSL protocols not being forwarded properly on their end on ipv6.

Mine doesn't seems to be affected, using Asus rtac 68u with both ipv4 & ipv6 on Google dns. Is it widespread or certain areas?

Same here. Stuck wondering what the problem was for a week. Unticked IPv6 for now until problem is resolved. This is only a temporary solution though as I don't know how to disable IPv6 on the router, so my phone still has problems accessing certain sites when connected to Wi-Fi.

When I do eInternet Connectivity Check on 192.168.1.254 (sorry I don't know what this is called), I get red crosses next to the IPv6 Gateway and IPv6 DNS Servers 1 and 2. See attached photo.

So what has went wrong?

Maxis have enable IPV6 at their exchange level which I think they not yet fully tested and already rolled up to public or live.
Therefore, most of Maxis users are facing hiccup which Maxis Technician is trying.
IPV6 still in infant stage in Malaysia and others provider still using IPV4

Get from others forum, try this:
followed this guide, then sometime on the screen it will show ipv6, untick it and the rest is similar to the guide.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2535916/all

if router says auth failed just call maxis and they will fix it from their end.

You said you're on wifi but you only changed your settings for LAN (local area network). You need to make the same changes to the wifi connection.

I think the only way to fix that is to change the router's settings to disable ipv6 there. The precise details there will depend on what models you have. Someone posted instructions a few posts up but I don't know if they work.

I tested on both of my home PCs. The problem is the same as before for me if I re-enable IPv6.

as mentioned before, it was never your problem to start with. they had some issues with their ipv6 routing, which i believe has been fixed now.

As mentioned earlier, if your phone doesn't work the only recourse is to disable ipv6 on the router level. How to do that would depend on exactly what router you have. It might even be impossible.

If you're not using IPTV or VoIP, just change the default Maxis Technicolor router to another router that you buy on your own and disable IPv6 from there. That's what I did as I had the same problem keep reoccurring and I wanted to change my router anyway as there are more flexibility in configuring your own router.

I also can confirm that it works for all sites with ipv6 reenabled. How many days was it? And no communications from Maxis at all. A lot of customers must have been very confused and frustrated.

I have the same problem too since last week. At first I seek help through their twitter @MaxisListens. They suggest disabling ipv6 through network adapter for Windows and it works! But, my Android mobile on WiFi have the same problem. So, they guide me set static IP on the phone. I'm like really!? Sounds like a work around than a proper solution. Anyway, it doesn't work either. So, they escalate the matter to the relevant team. Minutes later (salute) they called me and I tell them my current situation and the solutions that I've tried. They were surprised that setting static IP on my phone didn't work. So, they guide me through again too make sure all settings is right. Still the same. Then, they recommended the best way is to re-setup the maxis gateway to disable the ipv6. After that they ask me test my phone again. Still same. They sounded disbelieved that it didn't work just because it has worked for others! Ask me to restart the phone and call back if still have problem. So, tried it and it still didn't work. I thought my phone got problem cause my Windows is working. Then, I taught if already disable the maxis gateway then it should work as well if I re-enable my ipv6 on my laptop settings. My luck it didn't work. Next day called them back and I explained my situation again. Again they sounded disbelieved. So, they say I need to disable my ipv6 on my laptop even if I already disable it on gateway. Ok I unwillingly complied. I ask them this is a temporary solution right? They say no it is considered a solution if it solves the problem. Red flag. Anyway, since mobile cannot disable ipv6 they say will escalate the matter to their technician and they gave me a report number. Windows problem considered closed. Today, still no news from them. Will update you guys if any.

What a huge hassle. Consider changing your router if you're not using the VoIP or IPTV. That would be better. Did you try to "forget" your initial WiFi connection on your mobile after you disable IPv6? Your phone might "remember" your old settings and try to connect using the "old" settings to your WiFi. Failing that, change your SSID name and try to connect to your WiFi again after disabling IPv6.

The exotic sites thing? They blocked it long time ago
You'll need WARP VPN to bypass, simple 3rd party DNS wouldn't cut

I'm using Maxis Fiber 10 mbps. Since yesterday I discovered that I can't connect to certain sites such as:

microsoft.com
wikipedia.org
yahoo.com
lowyat.net

The connection seems to fail when trying to establish a https secure connection. Most other sites like all Google sites, Facebook etc. work.

This holds true for three Windows 10 PCs on my home network. Needless to say, I'm confused.

I'm currently connecting to lowyat.net through my phone.
*
Yes, I notice at 1AM to 2AM, the ping times are very high - 3000 ms and frequent disconnection.
I cannot connect to microsoft.com, skype.com, and outlook.com as well as namecheap.com.

Perhaps, network is having a problem? I called up Maxis at 123 and they said they will look into it.

I think it is about IPv4 since IPv4 network is very slow, but I can access all IPv6 links.
