Ok, u can use HDMI cable to thransfer video to ur TV....then....
use the supplied composite cable connect to your 2.1 speakers.....
and then, set the audio output (in PS3's XMB) to stereo (red and white) icon_rolleyes.gif

Do u guys have any recommendation of which Pioneer DVD + Home Theater model that can support

1. HDMI upscale to 1080p
2. optical audio out (for my ps3)
3. USB video playback (via DIVX or AVI and also can support .srt external subtitle)

*thanks in advance
*
First i want to know is, Whats your budget?

1. You mean DVD player that can upscale 1080p? Pioneer DV-410
2. You better get an A/V receiver with DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD support. Onkyo and Marantz is the top brands. Speakers must buy separate.
3. WD TV HD

sorry ah i don't mean to be an ass, but shouldn't this topic be in Audiophiles?
*
First of all, i accept ur apology for being an ass... tongue.gif
Secondly, this thread was created solely for PS3 owners... which means, focus on budget sound systems... not like those rich2 unker in audiophile that will recommend tenth of thousands ringgit of AV systems... i hope you understand. icon_rolleyes.gif

ahhh ok ok, i get it.. then, I would like to know this as well.

Currently my PS3 is residing in the living room. The ps3 and my dvd player are connected to the TV, and I have an Altec Lansin ATP3 (dun laugh) connected to the TV via the TV's AV out.

Can recommend something budget to boost this setup?

Thanks  icon_rolleyes.gif

sorry bro, i`ll never ask this kind of question again.   ohmy.gif
lesson learned. i juz use the speaker that already "built in" in my tv.....
*
don't be like that la... you don't hv to buy the complete system in one shot...

take me as example... it took me 3 years to complete my sound systems...here are the rundown:

AV Receiver: Onkyo 605 (bought in 2007)
Currently as surround back speakers: Wharfedale Crystal 10 (bought in 2007 - back then im using it as main speaker)
Sub woofer: Wharfedale dunno what model tongue.gif (bought in 2007)
Main front speakers: PSB Image T55 (bought in 2008)
Center speaker: PSB Image C5 <- latest model (bought it in 2010)
Surround speakers: PSB Image B15 <- old model (bought it in 2010)

cost spent: less than RM10k

as u can see, i'm upgraded my systems whenever i got enuff moolah, not in one shot... in this case, adding new speakers for every each year.... except 2009, cos focusing on other gadgets like laptop, iphone etc sweat.gif

my next target would be a powerful sub woofer and maybe a new AV receiver... for the next 2 years, hopefully... sweat.gif

the cycles go on...haha tongue.gif

Reviving my old thread tongue.gif

Any idea on the best audio system for the PS4?

I'm not sure what kind of the latest audio technology will the PS4 bring us.

Was caught in 2 minds between renting out my new apt or staying there. In the end stay so sound output from my TV instead. Now have to make do with wiring like the pic below until i can 're-renovate' it.

Nice... which part you want to "re-renovate"? ...looks okay to me, just need to tidy up the wiring i guess smile.gif

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Aug 17 2013, 02:45 AM)
The best system can only be determined by one factor: how deep are your pockets?

Because if there's no limit, I could easily recommend you to get this behemoth — Focal Electra 1028 Be
Can buy from Ong Radio at Jalan University, price about RM75k or so.

As for what audio technology the PS4 has, in terms of codecs it is the usual Stereo/PCM, Dolby Digital, and 7.1 LPCM.
The PS4 does have a dedicated audio processor though, so we could finally hear games on the PS4 using actual HRTF (or better known as binaureal audio) instead of pre-baked and pre-recorded audio like every console game today.
Binaureal audio in games has been on the PC since the late 90s, but unfortunately because consoles lack the ability to do so... it's been extremely rare these days.

Only wishful thinking now that HRTF in games will make a return, but at least there's hope.
*
My pocket not that deep... now im using 7.1 setup but i feel the need to upgrade my old onkyo receiver... then after that upgrade the old subwoofer rclxub.gif

QUOTE(Poodlepaddly @ Aug 17 2013, 08:31 PM)
That is a big tv dude. Nice wall mounting too tongue.gif Definitely need some wiring tuning biggrin.gif

From what i know most audio system need to opened up to certain volume to really hear the sound quality. Cant do that in an apartment without soubnd proof. Im am using a cheapo LG 5.1 theater set bought from carrefour happy hour sales before they close shop in Malaysia @RM800+  tongue.gif Not that great, but can fulfill basic requirements. But tv tarak av cable left. So have to go buy an optical cable for it.  unsure.gif
*
U mean u not using HDMI cable?

Not so easy to tidy up. There are no holes other than at the back of tv that comes out at the astro in the bottom. That's why you see my PS3 connected to the side cable.

Anyways once I clean up (if ever) will likely get a soundbar and put in the center instead. The only other alternative is getting those wireless home theatre but my place already have so many signals flying around that I'm concern on interference.

This will be your savior - http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Fidelio-HTL9...s/dp/B00BBUUDS2

Basically you get to split the left and right drivers, place it wherever you want and instantly just like that, surround sound. No fuss, no wires.
And most importantly, it sounds bloody good too.
*
Wireless for the speakers mean it doesn't need any cable to connect to the main receiver, right? but how about the power source for the speakers? using battery? how long will it last after fully charge?

That's a big TV...how many inch is the TV?

I was planning to get the Sony Home Theater BDV-E6100 but I have yet to get a good price for it
*
Does the BDV-E6100 have any HDMI inputs for external source (such as PS3 or media player)?

Last time when I bought my Onkyo SR605, I thought the 2 HDMI inputs is sufficient because that time I only have a PS3. But now I felt quite regret because 2 HDMI inputs is not enough after I have installed Astro B.yond, WDTV LiveHUB and a BD player. Although a HDMI splitter can solved this issue, but then I felt it is less convenient to have another remote control just for the splitters rclxub.gif

So my suggestion, get an AV receiver that has at least 6 HDMI inputs.

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Aug 19 2013, 02:18 PM)
The detachable drivers uses Phillips own proprietary wireless link, away from the 2.4ghz spectrum so there won't be interference. Of course, no cables.
You will have to charge the drivers up after 10+ hours or so though, but even in its entire 2.1 mode the soundstage for the Fidelio HTL9100 is pretty amazing for a soundbar.

The main unit itself is powered through the wall, as well as the sub.

Oh no I'm not, just an audio enthusiast.
Damn expensive hobby though. sweat.gif

*
On topic about HTIBs, I generally think they aren't worth it anymore especially when companies like Onkyo, Pioneer, Denon, and Yahama are all selling component packages.
They're more expensive definitely, but even an entry level Pioneer HTP-HSS322 will beat the Sony BDV E6100 for around the same price. You can generally get up to 30% discount off (or more) the retail price if you search for AVRs at proper electrical AV stores, not those chain stores like SenQ or Harvey Norman.

You do lose the ability to play Blu Ray movies out of the box, but that's what your PS3 is for too right? biggrin.gif
Oh and most Blu Ray players have Cinavia protection... so~ sweat.gif
*
I hate Cinavia vmad.gif ...any idea whats the current model of 3D BD player that dont have Cinavia?... all i know tehre are some old stocks maybe not been infected with Cinavia yet tongue.gif

Not too sure. Problem with old stocks of these BluRay 3D players is that you don't know if they have their firmware udpated or not. If it does, chances are... it's cinavia infected, old stock or not regardless.

Another alternative is just to get a media player and play Blu-Ray .iso files off it.
Otherwise you're going to have to look at a HTPC then.
*
...or buy ori BD movies, of course tongue.gif

Btw, after waited for so long to upgrade my 6-year-old Onkyo SR605, i have decided to get the Onkyo NR616. thumbup.gif

Why i bought the NR616?
1) Price - within my budget
2) More HDMI inputs - 8 of them
3) Improved sound quality - compared to SR605
4) 3D and 4K TV ready - maybe in 2-3 years time, 4K TVs is more affordable
5) THX Certified
6) Internet radio service

I'm still using my old speakers, but now itching to upgrade the subwoofer...
oh my, this is an expensive hobby indeed rclxub.gif
