Guys, just be careful when sending your phone to Machines KLCC. I sent my iPhone for battery replacement on Thursday, 13/12/2018. After the usual steps of checking and submission, I was told that it will be ready on 4 hours. But they never came back till the end of the day so I emailed them asking for the status of the phone. Next day, on Friday, I received a reply saying that my Touch ID became unresponsive and had to be sent to Apple SG for further checking.

I am thoroughly dissapointed with them as the last time I sent my device for a reformat, they screwed up by scratching the display and played a blame game with Apple SG until I had to intervene and settle it with Apple directly. I had expected top notch service from them but they didn't.

I wouldn't have gone to them if it wasn't for my office is just in walking distance from KLCC.

Just be careful & make sure to take photo of your device before turning in for service with any of the AASP.

Machines has admitted their fault and will change the display with Touch ID, only that it will take 7-14 working days to be sorted. But, given how they treated my case previously, I won't be surprised if they make a u-turn or delay the process.

In the meanwhile, glad that I have Pixel to use as spare.

New one is RM2499 now, and assuming that's a full MY set with no dents or scratches then I would say yes, but make sure you check and confirm the phone is not a telco set that could end up being blocked smile.gif

Yup. Plus, I read online that a lot of iPhone 7 Plus turn up with Touch ID problem when they got it in for battery replacement. Hope it's just random cases & won't affect the rest. Now the phone sure will last another 2 years (if I don't impulsively put it on sale 😂)

How to confirm that the phone is not telco set? Info from seller the phone is not telco set. Manage to get the serial number, confirm it is MY set.

Ask the seller to show you the receipt if possible?

Apple’s latest iPhone update cuts off cellular connectivity

Updating your iPhone to the latest version of iOS 12 could cut off your cellular data and disable Internet connectivity.

According to Forbes, iOS 12.1.2 , which was released to fix cellular connectivity issue for users in Turkey, ironically introduced the same problem in other countries.

In the official release note for iOS 12.1.2, Apple says the update “addresses an issue that could affect cellular connectivity in Turkey for iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max”.

Many users have taken to Twitter to complain about the issue, with some even claiming that their smartphones have been bricked.

In various Twitter replies, Apple’s support desk recommends users to check if their phones are showing “No Service” or “Searching” at the top the screen, and if it does, users are recommended to either restart the phone or check if mobile data is enabled.

In another tweet, Apple suggests users to update their carrier settings, which fixed the issue for some users.

With no confirmation from Apple when the bug will be fixed, users are recommended not to update to iOS 12.1.2

12.1.1 is pretty stable, and some also have no issues on 12.1.2 but I'm probably not gonna risk it.

Foxconn may start manufacturing flagship iPhone models in India

For the first time, Foxconn may be assembling Apple's handset in its Sriperumbudur plant located in India's southern state of Tamil Nadu. The assembly partner is planning to invest 25 billion Indian rupees, roughly $356 million in U.S. dollars, on expanding their plant to accommodate the iPhone production according to M C Sampath, Tamil Nadu's Industries Minister.

The Economic Times also noted that Foxconn is aiming to create as many as 25,000 jobs for the local workforce. The new production could commence as early as 2019.

As of now, only lower cost iPhones such as the iPhone SE and iPhone 6S are assembled in India and by competitor Wistron. The upgraded plant expected to put out Apple's higher-end handsets. The report specifically cites the iPhone X as a possibility for manufacturing, expanding Apple's business in the country. The report is likely in error regarding the specific model, as the iPhone XR and iPhone XS has supplanted the iPhone X in size, and camera capabilities, respectively.

Apple and Foxconn both have been exploring other options for manufacturing as the U.S. tiptoes around a trade war with China in recent months.

As of late, there have been a number of hurdles for Apple's expansion plans in India, including recently allowing the country's anti-spam app into the App Store to avoid a ban from the local cellular networks. A top advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi also insisted the country should restrict its import of luxury goods like the iPhone and tax them heavily, further hurting Apple's outlook in the country for high-end sales.

I think new ones will be hard to find already by now, probably only used and refurbished ones only.
