quite honestly, your lifestyle will grow to fill whatever income you get

some ppl are earning 20k and they complain it's not enough. but there are also hardcore poor who managed with sub 1k

now to answer your question - the ideal salary is the highest u can get at the moment. forget 'i can't survive with low salary' or 'i have 5 cats at home to feed'. employers have no interest in giving u more money to make u happy.

again, it goes back to the industry. i graduated 5 years ago and my then starting pay was only RM2.5k in a Non-bank financial institution.
