I don't know how many people realized this but DotA Allstars is now being developed by IceFrog. Yes everyone has seen his/her name in the loading screen... etc.
Have you guys ever wonder if IceFrog, the creator/developer of DotA is pro at the game itself? Or perhaps any of you have seen him play or has a replay of his game, pls share...

Getting Started

|
im sure he implanted some secret code insided DOTA. once he type something like -secretryu. his hero is automatically invinsible and critical strike. or everyone dies on the spot.
surely he plays DOTA to test-drive his game. and surely he use different name to hide his real identity during LAN games.

If I design and built a car, does it mean I'm an excellent driver?

QUOTE(nxfx @ Apr 2 2007, 11:47 AM) If I design and built a car, does it mean I'm an excellent driver? Excellent driver for that particular car, why not? You know what speeds to change gear, what accessories to put in, how much fuel before you drain out. What not to do so that your car lasts long.... right?

What not to do so that your car lasts long.... right? People that designed the game spend most of their time doing the technical work and going through tonnes of coding rather then regular people who spend most of their time playing the game. Yes it is true that game creator know every inches of the map from but have you ever come to think of it that dota is NOT only about know the game? What ever happened to the micro skill? teamwork skill?

haih like me everytime i join scrouge, for some reason my teammates always die early. After a while as your enemy feed more and more of your team mates, the items and experience gap become so big that even i will feed after level 11/12.
NO matter how pro are you , if your teammates feed like hell, you will eventually feed as well.

What not to do so that your car lasts long.... right? So you mean all the F1 drivers designed those car on their own? You're only talking on the facts of the car, there are still many other factors that you need to consider; weather, tracks, etc. The same applies to DotA, even though you know all the facts on each hero, other factors such as micro skill and teamwork are essential as well. If you're fighting noobs and pwned them until you godlike, does that mean you're pro in DotA?

Engineers test the car engine just buy running the engine barely in test chamber There will be special driver who tests the car prototype itself. Same like dota, there will be gamer who test the map

I'M THE TEAMKILLING F***TARD!!!
|
Do you see Blizzard devs winning all Warcraft 3 tournaments? You see EA developers scooping up all trophies for Need For Speed or Battlefield? Do you see Valve people pwning all else in Counterstrike matches?
Creating a game involves programming, design, etc... Unless one of those things suddenly became essential for you to pwn in DotA, I highly doubt any developer on the DotA team is automatically uber in the game.
The only devs I know that are actually pretty damned good at the game they make is Bungie... They have events where they play against regular joes... and they just eat their asses.
If a developer is somehow unbeatable at the game they make, chances are, they're probably exploiting something most ppl don't know about (AKA, legal cheating, etc. ).
