i'll be getting my huawei b310 device soon. quick question, how do u manage the sim since it will be in the modem all time? or no need to manage @ install my digi app?
*
No need to manage.

You connect your phone to your B310 and then install the DiGi app on your phone to see any bills DiGi may have for you on said app.

what is the app u guys use to know location of cell tower?
*
i used Network Cell Info Lite

The tower marker may be off by a bit, so you still have to rely on your actual eyes on where the cell tower is biggrin.gif Not too hard to spot though since these towers normally have a few satellite dish and long vertical boxes attached to them

Guys, IZZIT good move if I'm using Samsung galaxy note 5 as my modem.
*
For long usage period, no. The phone heats up quickly. The battery on Samsung phones are known to eventually get bloated if stressed too frequently. Moreover, if you use a battery charger to charge your phone while using said phone as a modem at the same time, your phone's battery will die first as the charger might not be able to keep up

However, using your phone as a hotspot for a few minutes of usage is fine

See the first page of this thread for modem recommendations to go with DiGi

QUOTE(Ngto @ Dec 23 2017, 10:04 AM)
There's only about 1 week left till 31 Dec 2017(or so Digi say) to subscribe to Infinite 150.

I still can't decide. I see many complaints about congestion and some people can't even get 1 mbps during peak. They also say using Prepaid to test get diff results, much faster,  so it seem Prepaid speed and Postpaid (congested) speed is different.

So what say you, Digi users here. Can give some feedback, help me decide. Tell me where your location and what speed at peak hours when using Infinite 150.
*
IMHO, if you can handle the service quality during 7 PM to 1 AM (i.e. peak hours), then go for it.

After using this for close to 6 months, my verdict is : decent. I don't get 4G+ LTE speed of course but that's due to the building I'm in i.e. not in line of sight to any DiGi cell tower. Still better than the 4MB Streamyx line I used to have - but not by much especially during 7 PM - 1 AM.

DiGi also does not throttle YouTube or Twitch, so if your location can handle 720p, you'll actually see it instead of constantly being limited to 140p like TMNet does.

The first month of using this service, my area was heavily congested. After several complaints over here from people at the same area i.e. near Bandar Bukit Jalil, they did some maintenance to improve the service quality. So props to them for that.

Digi must be shitting their pants now with this release by Celcom.
*
No. Well, not yet.

Once Celcom uses PR accounts to seed posts on the internet about how stable their plan is during 7pm - 1 AM (regardless whether its true or not), then maybe DiGi will sweat.

Not sweat by much probably, since 150 GB is way way way less than "unlimited" 1 TB biggrin.gif

I noticed that Digi has shaped the traffic different in my area recently.

Right now, If i do speedtest on phone, I get Download of 13Mbps, while on PC, I get 2Mbps.

I always thought digi would prioritize phone traffic, so I tried to download a game from Play Store. Lo and behold, the speed drops to 2Mbps after about 10-20seconds of 13Mbps
*
I got that as well. It was an Android game of 1GB in size. At first the download speed was fast, then slowed down to a crawl. At least it eventually completed the download. This was between 1 PM to 3 PM on a weekday if I recall correctly.

Then again, I can't be certain if my experience above was due to traffic shaping or WiFi/Mobile network simply being erratic as they normally do

hi guys wanna ask you guys whether u experience this or not ,i settle my digi feb bill on 16.3.2018 with amount of rm163.93 but yesterday night i receive sms say i overdue rm163.93 ,today early morning i also receive an email state i overdue, why is it happening ,is it some sort of digi scam?
*
That's normal.

In my case, normally the first "please-pay-your-bill" notification from DiGi comes in the form of an SMS. Upon receiving this, I proceed to pay using their DiGi Android app.

Then a few days after that, there'll be an email notification which asks payment for the recently paid bill - with no indication that it had already been paid a few days back rolleyes.gif rclxub.gif

I think DiGI send that email for our safekeeping even though the amount had already been paid earlier. Maybe lah ....

Do you game online with the B618 ? If yes, how's the ping ? Any significant lag ?

B310. IIRC, set to B8 using "Huawei E5186 Toolbox v0.9"

In fighting games, I get a minimum of 5 frames delay even with people within Selangor i.e. bad. BTW, I'm not complaining here even if it sounds like I am. I'm aware of the limitations of LTE connections when it comes to ping in online games way before I subscribe to I150

For a place like my home, no unifi will be installed here (Lot house with less that 5 houses). So no matter how cheap they give for unifi customer, its useless to someone that cant apply unifi.
*
Even for high density places in urban areas, there is no guarantee it'll get Unifi, especially for low cost apartment areas. I should know since I rent one ... and surrounded by buildings & future malls having Unifi & TIME.

So DiGi i150 is my only choice for "fast" broadband , "fast" here meaning : 1-3 Mb/s from 6PM - 2 AM mega_shok.gif , 9 - 25 Mb/s otherwise rolleyes.gif using the B618 LTE modem

wonder if can hit 20MB/s or not

So lucky ... my max was only 4.5 MB/s around 4-5 AM when downloading Tekken 7 (40+ GB) from Steam. My B618 is really underutilized in such a congested area like Bukit Jalil, KL

Am I the only one experiencing heavy throttling in download speed the past few days?

I've been getting similar results, very poor download speed with high upload speeds.

You're not alone. The following was taken using a B618 at 10:50 PM in Bukit Jalil (despite it saying Sri Kembangan) sad.gif

In my case, there was never a time when I can get decent speeds during 7PM - 2AM, it has always been throttled to around 0.5 - 2 Mbps during those times.

I would use a different service, if there's a better one. RM 150/month & not being able to watch Twitch, YouTube or Netflix during 7PM - 2 AM is a real bummer

No. Registered for interest back in 2012/2013 IIRC.

The only option is Unifi Wireless & 4MB Streamyx , the latter which I cut for DiGi i150

All 3 above are terrible in their own way biggrin.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

Meanwhile, a higher end condo beside me has TIME 100Mbps for RM129 . KL's wealth disparity is alarming really

Just wondering, if u use VPN, will your speed improve significantly?
*
Never used a VPN so I wouldn't know. My usage is pretty much pedestrian I.e. not much sensitive data & some light YouTube sessions. I say light as I can only watch low res videos ATM due to congestion/throttling in my area

QUOTE(Helldana @ Aug 14 2018, 11:16 AM)
I get similar results regardless of which speed test service I use. In fact the speed is even worse on speedtest.net. The throttle seems to be there.

It has approached day 4 since my connection is being throttled, I have no idea why this is happening, and usually it happens at nighttime but now the throttle is there the whole day.
*
Looks nasty if throttling happens the whole day. Perhaps you should ditch DiGi and try other alternatives , if available that is
