As in my area, 4g speed for band 3 is 12-15mbps while band 7 is 20-25mbps and band 8 is 8-14mbps.

In 4G+ wise speed as below.

Setup is Netgear Aircard AC790s + Tl-mr3420 v2 ( flashed with rooter goldenorb )
*
ohh so the speed is depand on which band you are connected right? not as opposed to connected to what type of category (cat4/ cat6) ?

my case is :

mifi cat3 (30mbps)

Huawei p10 phone ( cat12) (70mbps)

so whether to just use my existing mifi or get new modem?

another thing is that i plan to use digi inifinite on a seperate modem, then connect it to a very high performance wifi router to share the internet (asus n66u)

example:

Get huawei B310 for digi 4g, turn of its wifi. then use ethernet cable to connect from B310 to asus n66u wifi router.

will this work?

66Mbps max for single 1800MHz band. My area's CA is no good, so I don't bother using it.
*
so the speed results is depend on which band connected? apart from congestion?

Yes. If my area has good B7, I can easily surpass 100Mbps.
*
oo i c . so what device are you using?

which device can actually change the band manually to lock it in a specifi band?

u need to test out which band is what speed, and then the CA is which band + which band from which cell tower too,.

basically 4G VS 4G+ is huge different  as also depends on area too
*
the problem is i dont know how to test it?

any suggestion to solve this problem?

im in dellima now. if i get cat 4 device. cant get 70mbps like my phone does. im screwed

speed wise not only base on which router u use

coverage, signal strength, place u put the router, congestion and yada yada.

if u can get 70mb with your phone, then get a good router

its always good to get the better one so u dont regret later.

if u dont have enough budget, just buy within your budget.
*
the problem is i cant identify my phone is using which category at that time i get 70mbps. if i knew, i wont have this problem now.

if getting 70mbps consistently then is consider very good speed already compared alots of in here.

cat4 150mbps and cat6 300mbps

cat4 support 4G
cat6 suppoer 4G+

now telco are upgrading to 4G+ slowly. If your area got 4G+ and can use then better get a cat6 modem.

pocket only burn once if select cat6.

speed wise, cat6 modem signal are better than cat4.
*
obviously i know.

im getting 70mbps inside my house. that is on 4G only NOT 4g+ ( only 4g at my area. NOT 4g+)

so do you think i get cat4 device (Huawei B310) and can achieve 70mbps?

should be able to archive same speed. as cat4 modem are max capability speed is 150mbps.

for me ipon and ipad signal are weaker than modem signal. modem speedtest are better than them.
*

Keep in mind that your phone is cat 12 if i am not mistaken.

So if you buy a cat 4 modem, in theory it probably won't be as fast as your phone due to newer chipset on cat 12. Of course I'm speculating and no way to test unless test both devices at the same place.
*
thats the problem im facing right now.

i only can test it when i get the cat4 device only can verify if it can get 70mbps just like my cat12 phone got for 70mbps.

the problem is when i test it on my phone. 70mbps is using cat4 or what ? nobody knows.

As I said this "Ookla speedtest app" shows UNUSUAL speed, and its PING is usually lower compared to other speedtest.
Yours may have no difference, but I believe many people here getting fake result in OOKLA "App".
*
i think thay ookla is one of the fastest speedtest server out there. tho i think the results are the most trustworthy ones.

anyone here using yagi antenna/ external antenna with their 4g router and digi i150?

im thinking of getting a set of yagi antennas as my house is located at the edge of the signal strength. with the supply 5dbi external antenna of B315 im getting 15mbps up and 5 mbps down. (3 bar signal)

am thinking of getting yagi antennas might boost the signal and speed.
