I'm a material science student in UKM and i just got an internship offer from Mach3 Engineering, so I wan t to ask seniors that anything I need to concern  before starting my work. I am also curious about the future of being a corrosion engineer (is it good or what). I need opinions and experiences from seniors THX
*
Inspection and Corrosion are pretty demanded in the industry. It is needed before you do maintenance and for projects material engineers also related. Go ahead and get a few years of experience in this field regardless if you start small in engineering firm/contractors/consultant. I would highly recommend it

Thanks for your reply and advice  smile.gif, but what is SSI per DOSH requirement?
*
It's a regulation passed by the DOSH, inspection has to be done for pressured vessel.. Google it. Basically, if anything that is governed by the Law, you will need to do it. Its a requirement because downstream is governed by that. If the law say so, you will have your work secured by that, in a way ....

Would like to ask if is a norm for oil and gas company to offer a contract basis to most of their employee? Or that's depending on the position being offered?

Thanks.

Too many underlying multitude criss-cross factors to say so, permanent or contract. Not all OnG offer contracts basis. You will need to leverage you skills.

Is Petronas going on massive investment spree? Apparently they're aiming to award both Kasawari and K5 next year. Also will this mean Petronas shifting away from downstream?
*
Kasawari is a go. K5 is a testing of new technology to monetize the acidic field

BTW thanks for enlighten me on this!! Allow me to have wider mind set...

Start small if you have any offer to see how oil and gas industry procurement management. You will learn as you work and expose to different contract strategy and manages the full life cycle to the end of contract. You cannot be picky at a particular company at these times.

I wonder whether they will use membrane technology similar to REPSOL’s BRE CO2 removal technology for K5.
*
I heard about manipulating temperature technology. I may be wrong though

From my observation, the company that is hiring the most fresh grads is sapura kencana.. The others not so many..
Best to all the junior to head there. And don't be picky. I.e.i want to work in my hometown only or KL only...

Yup EMEPMI rates quite dissappointing lately, I have been going to their interview twice last year, twice rates offer really huhuhuhuhu

Been talking to several ex-EMEPMI that I used to know also said the same things too, rates are too low although its for contract staff basis.

I guess the good time rates are over. Clients this time evidently cutting cost for manpower hiring, especially when I am doing for the manpower supply tender.

Guess that 2019 are still bleak.

Well, the economy of Oil and Gas is unpredictable now. It would be volatile and I wouldnt think it will reaching the high times back in 2008 - 2012
