From Shell, it says Ranhill not awarded yet but in the progress. So many rumors flying around. But the target FEED award still be Oct 2019 and EPC award in June 2020. Hope this wont change..

With the current friction between GPS and Federal Govt, I wont surprise it will be delay for a long time like Kasawari.

PH Federal Govt is not friendly with GPS.

How about for the Rosmari & marjoram Onshore Gas Terminal (Onshore package)? Heard that Shell will select 3 from 10 contestant. With Saipem and JGC declined, left 8 to compete. Some say FLUOR has high chance to get it. Is it true?? How is the game play now?

For what I heard:
1. Initially SHELL says will select 3 to contest in FEED+EPC. And SHELL will select the best proposal at the end of FEED. The another 2 loser will get compensate in some small package.
2. The game has change now. Petronas says will select 1 only for FEED.

Who has a bigger say in this project? Petronas or Sarawak Government + SHELL??? Seems like Petronas MPM not really having full authority over Sarawak now. Anyone can give an insight?

Most of the project technip or McDermott involved is foreign project..
Example : Aramco Marjan EPCIC. Few billion dollars project. Execution in KL. Many Malaysian been hired by McDermott for this job. Including my friends as Senior procurement and Senior engineers..
If all countries has same mindset means job like this will never come to Malaysian..

The implementation quota or hiring Malaysian first will not give any negative impact compare to what Malaysia can offer.

QUOTE(BillySteel @ Aug 9 2019, 03:45 AM)
I can confirm this is true because I have experienced this. Typically a Philippines/Indian Engineer sometimes with (10-20+years experience) is paid between RM4500-5500. The recruiters make higher profits by charging the company 6500-7500, and the contractor makes a bigger profit by charging the end client. Everyone wins. To put this in perspective of a recruiter, imagine the fee to hire a local engineer is one month salary or around MYR6500, revenue per year for a single engineer. Now hire a Philippines engineer, run his payroll, pay him/her MYR 5000 and charge the client MYR6500, you will make a revenue MYR18000 in a single year. From a business perspective, this is a no brainer.

When you hire a local, the salary is higher + EPF contribution, the expectation is higher, workers insurance, etc.. benefits although nonexistent do cost more to hire a Malaysian engineer between 7-10 years of experience and even higher for a better experienced Malaysia engineer.

I have seen local engineers fired or skipped over for promotions in favor of foreign engineers and this was a couple of years ago, I guess its probably worst now.

In Saudi or oil-rich middle eastern nations, most of their people are not interested in engineering stuff, their general populace is catered towards the management of the asset as opposed to building it. Hence the gap and the reason why outsourcing is a better option. In Malaysia, this is not the case.

That is because our Malaysia's Ministry of Human Resources, both the past (BN) and current (PH) are weak and sissy. Ditambah lagi ketidakbijaksanaan of Ministry of Home Affair - KDN, I facepalm.

Really piss me off.

Pung pang pung pang yadaa yadaaa making statement in the newspaper saying Malaysia lacking of engineers, while in reality, our engineers dianaktirikan at the homegrown itself.

Baik aku jadi Menteri. Eh?

I have taken over the job from so call Marine Construction Superintendent of FSO from India which been paid about ~USD12k/month. 🤔

In the beginning I refused to do it, but for the sake of FSO safety and Malaysian crew, I have done it. When I have completed  the design on paper, this capt do not know to interpret in physical.

FSO already at North Malaysia field for about 10 years. I saw in LinkedIn that she gonna do the UWILD soon.

Is it? Only learn that this gas field with 2.7 tcf reserve is proposed by Mitsubishi (has 30% share in this) to tie in to Shell Rosmari and Marjoram. Expecting further delay of the onshore gas terminal FEED award.  rclxub.gif
*
Although Mitsubishi Corp. has a minority stakes in this field, you dont want to ffk this Japanese, remember, all the gas export will be sold to MLNG, and the traditional buyer of our LNG is Japanese buyer since 1981.

Sarawak Govt. and Petronas always treat Japanese very carefully, you ffk the Japanese, abislah liao.

Thats why I said earlier, dont be too excited about Rosmary & Marjoram prematurely, selagi MPM tak bagi green light, all of us here can only kesurupan and menggelabah biawak.

Selamat Hari Raya Korban.

Yes. Even in Indonesia the operators were trying to sell their gas to Japan.
*
Salah bang.

Operators sell the offshore gas to onshore LNG plant via Gas Sale Agreement (GSA), then the onshore LNG plant process and purify the raw gas and compress into LNG, masuk tanker, then sold to buyer.

You cannot have a raw gas to be sold, it must be process, refine and compress into liquid form, hence, LNG, liquified natural gas, as a steady form to enable export masuk tanker, once tanker reach to the buyer terminal, it will be regassified into gas form of state.

A technologist and process engineer can explain this better than me hehehehehe

I am just a noob.

Sorry I did mean LNG but wrongly wrote gas.

I also made some error.

LNG means liquified natural gas, not liquid.

Liquified and liquid are two different term.

Silly me doh.gif

LNG & LPG also different.

If its come to tarpoon design, Enra Energy (via Icon Australia) will be a favourite choice.
