Just found this from reading some of the forums, thought I share it here.

If ayam slowpoke, mohon maaf blush.gif

1. First using the internet browser and go to www.whatismyip.com WhatIsMyIP

2. Next, login to your StreamyX router and look at the Device Info Page.

If the WAN IP matches, then you are on Public IP.

If not, go bug TM by calling 100.

Note: Public IP (as opposed to Private IP) is needed to host services on your LAN, for example, CCTV viewing.

Sekian, harap maklum.

Yes, we tried that before and managed to get it. We request via email to TM though, you can try call 100 too, people I spoken before are friendly and helpful. I conversed in Bahasa.

basically, private IP will be charged by any Provider provided you have requested. If not, default usually is public IP (FOC).
if your bill dun have any Private IP charges then should be public IP.
So, home users is public IP, only those really need it especially organization

yes you are right.
but is it necessary need private IP for home use? biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
For example: in big organization like my office, yes we need to have private IP for our Local Network ans WAN network with VPN connection.

Bro, I think you are slightly confused or I might have misinterpreted what you meant, it's usually private IP that is FOC, and you have to request for public IP.

Also, you are already using private IP for your local network, and it's only your WAN IP that is public, using NAT.

So, for example, all your devices in your LAN are private IP, either 10.0.x.x or 192.168.x.x, but all of them are sharing one main WAN IP, which could be anything EXCEPT 10.0.x.x or 192.168.x.x, or anything between 172.16.x.x - 172.31.x.x, which are all private IP ranges. This is a process knows as Network Address Translation.

What is your current IP address and assuming that you're using the Technicolor TG784nv3 provided by Maxis, log into your router and see if your Modem ID is something like this: 1) xxxxxx@public.maxis.com.my or 2) xxxxxx@home.maxis.com.my

If it's 1, you're on Public IP, if it's 2, you're on Private IP.

It doesn't make any difference to your speed to be honest if you're not using port forwarding for CCTV or hosting a server, so don't worry about it.

If ISP use Private IP (100.64.0.0/10 GCN/NAT444)... then our router also have another Private LAN... then this will be Double NAT...

Network engineer said that, Double NAT is very bad and give bad performance, due to address translation happen, it will eat CPU usage/ASIC resources.

Then born IPv6, eliminate NAT and kill Port Forward, software like Gaming, Skype, Discord, Remote Desktop, etc.. easily send data to another device directly without need server for Firewall bypass
