Hhahah..actually what he meant by ATM was 'At The Moment' biggrin.gif ..i made myself a secondary PSU last time to power up my 6600GT..but juz a chapalang PSU..1 primary FSP Psu couldn't supply enough power..so..with olny a few bucks..i was able to buy a chepo PSU juz to power up my GC alone..huh..easy actually..juz read the manual..and everything is save!!!!oh ya..i put the secondary PSU outside my casing..hehehe..kinda ugly laugh.gif

I've seen uncle Ian doing that in his worklog for KingKong 2. Using an AcBel 300w to power his GC. Btw, anyone knows how to mod a 6pin PCI-E connectors if the 2nd PSU doesn't have one?

Because it's fun I guess.. I have a 24-20 pin converter which I bought for Rm5, but some people here like to make them. Time and materials considered, it probably cost more than Rm5, but hey if you enjoy doing it.

Yes, it use 2 power cable.

The Lian Li PC-A10 casing do came with a special internal cable that link 2 PSU(s) together.
By pressing the casing power up button, 2 PSU(s) will start up together.

If you want to self make 2 PSU then ...

You should have a main (1st) PSU which connect to motherboard and the 2nd PSU which connect to your graphic card, HD and etc ...

If I not mistaken (please correct me), you should switch on the 2nd PSU before the main (1st) PSU.

Since the 2nd PSU is not connected to motherboard, no way you can switch it on. You should make a wire connection from GREEN to any BLACK at the PSU's socket for motherboard connection.

After you have done that, to switch on 2nd PSU, just switch on the power outlet at the wall that connected to 2nd PSU. It will start up.

Where else the 1st PSU, just switch it on by pressing the power up button from the casing.

hm..how 2 explain aa...i've made my own 2nd psu last time but doesn't use it anymore since i sold out my 6600GT(which consumes a hell lot of power)and using 2 psu means u double ur power usage and it is the same as when u use 2 pc at once..so..ur bill..hehehe.. sweat.gif

okay..the concept and simple idea is juz like this..the GREEN wire which u connect to the secondary(cable) psu is actually the on/off wire for the primary(cable) psu..so..the Green wire also work as the on/off swith for the secondary psu also..it will on/off at the same time with ur primary psu..

so..if ur secondary psu have its own on/off swith at the rear..switch it on first..then u switch on ur pc..

but if ur psu doesn't have any on/off switch, it should on/off together with ur primary psu when u on/off ur pc

unless..got some connection problem to the modded cable..ur secondary psu may not switch on/ off at the same time with ur primary psu..this happened to me several time before since i didnt solder the wire..
