Just found out yesterday, my MERU brand water heater storage tank was leaking from the inlet pipe, the leak seems to come from water tank.
Maybe its the joint from the tank to the inlet pipe.
The thing is, currently the developers warranty has expired and they dont care about fixing it for me.
So really desperately finding someone who can troubleshoot and solve it since its leaking and plaster ceiling is wet.
Thanks in advance.!!

This is the inlet area that is leaking.
The manufacturer support asked too open the inspection panel and take more picture of the internals for more advice.
so gotta check it out tonight

If you confirm the leaking coming from the heater itself, is better to get it repair by the manufacturer, because they know how their unit work, normal plumber is not specialized.
How costly is costly? If pay once and solve your headache is still ok. If the price same as replacing same capacity + installation, better buy new. Need to consider ceiling access too.

so far, manufacturer said tank is still under warranty , not the parts
so meaning if tank is leaking they will replace FOC but if not then charges apply to the parts
RM 120 for assessment
RM 150 for labour
and add whatever parts replaced.
A new tank will cost RM 990
yea, will have to get it assess and then make decisions.

Wall mounted above the bathroom ceiling? Looks like tight space.

yeap, its mounted to the concrete above the plaster ceiling. very tight. not much maneuvering space really.
If they have to replace the whole tank, then will have to remove the plaster ceiling for sure.
the plaster is wet already now but is still not as bad. looking for a contractor to do this so called small job will be a headache as well cause not many want to do just a small job these days.

sent MERU support the pictures they said confirmed leaking tank so they will send a new tank over.
But they will ONLY send the tank. haha. Installation and plumbing i will have to settle it on my own.
Such a hassle, i ll have to get the plaster ceiling contractor and plumber separately.
Wonder if the plumber guy knows how to install the tank.

Is there a way to hang it outside yet shaded from the elements?  In the old days, it's part and parcel of the being part of the furniture in the bathroom. Otherwise if possible, plan to enlarge the man hole to with a wider man hole or consider exposing it as per old school for ease of maintenance sake.

cant mount outside.its big and ugly haha. and its a condo, management will kill me too.

got a guy to cut the plaster ceiling for me..cut the piping and unmount the tank and rejoin the piping and mount the tank. Charged me RM 350. so far so good.
but his plaster ceiling skills are noob haha. think gotta get another plaster specialist to redo the ceiling in the future.
