prefer the 5300 and 3250 seperately tho.. what Nokia is trying to do is to blend a sqaure-ish shape (Nokia 3250) with rounded edges (Nokia 5300).. and the result is.. kinda..  |

This phone is kinda long in size.
An obvious combination of Nokia 5300 and Nokia 3250. Looks like Nokia is running out of idea for its phones' design. |

This phone is much more expensive than i expected, cost like a N73 ME with a 2.0MP non-Cark Zeiss camera without AF.
But the 369Mhz processor and 64MB RAM do pwn N73. |

LOL hmmm http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/5700 seems to be saying Developer Platform: S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 instead of feature pack 2 Would be better if it supports feature pack 2 for 9.2 I think it is about the same price as N73 cause of its 3G support. well it depends on your preference.....i do agree the buttons are a bit funky and i don't like the swirl style.....if the price is right.....then go for it....
for now i'm not sure whats the exact price but nokia published its recommended retail price to be Rm1559. |

Got it already! tapi Zitron set 1450 .I like that it was fast, fastest booting symbian i ever got o. No lag even wit 2GB MicroSD.The speaker is good, pretty close to SE liao. Got Stereo widening, loudness n sum other ting to play with.So I usually listen to it on speaker now. There is 1 big downside: u still cannot stick ur Sony Walkmans earbuds to this nokia.It still uses a 2.5mm jack instead of a 3.5mm one.which require a adapter/handsfree thingy to convert to 3.5mm. the adapter thingy came in white color wires, even when i got the black 5700. So I think all other color is also going to be white.good luck keeping it clean. At 1st I thought the red one looks nice but got da black cause they din hav the red at time of purchase.Now having used the black .I think it will be easier to keep clean.I used the 3250 before n for all intent n purposes , they are the same. Only 5700 c/w with faster processor n probably an additional Audio Chip n is less bulky. As to a comment that it is a bit long , I would say its just nice fit in my hand. 5300 too short in my opinion.then again I am 6'2". Its a fast fone, and everyone who uses symbian smartfone knows how good it is to use a fast fone for a change.
Definitely a crowd pleaser. I would buy it over SE walkman fones cause I already have. Hehe. |

Normal usage is definitely smooth, even with the Sandisk2GB half filled, it is still faster than my E70; Typing SMS is fast on the keypad although the keypad din look like much,much of it due its responsiveness.I din use the camera much except for outdoor shots and found it to be good but doubt that anyone would really buy this one for the camera.No Autofocus if anybody is wonderin.Its not terribly expensive as compare to SE W series fones n it does what its designed for - fun.I din even bother with the headphones and just listen thru the 2 speakers on the phone,Like I said u have some settings to play with like Loudness n Stereo widening, turn them both off n the speakers will withstand highest volume without breaking up. If u turn them on,then try not to dial up the volume too much. The volume button is rather hard to press,but no harder than the SE ones to be fair. I would buy it as a second fone if u look too professional to carry this kind of plasticky fone.
For me, I like the responsiveness, color n the fact that it was not haphazardly thrown together like the N70,N73 Xpressmusic.Eventhough its a rehash, its still new hardware. |

Yeah, mine also transfered 1 picture into the newly created folder after i marked 3 for transfer.
Definitely a bug.But i would not worry too much over it lo. Let nokia release a new firmware to fix it. Btw , I just went to check the firmware update website on sunday n we hav the latest firmware oledi. |

The screen clearity is similar to N95 if not better. If u r wondering,N80 has the best screen, E70 as well,pixel count very high. A bit dissapointed with the N95 screen to tell u the truth.That s why I will wait till price falls a bit more.

Hmmm.. i think both N80 and N95 has the same resolution. Just that the pixel density on the N80 is higher due to its smaller sized screen. But i'd give up the clarity for a larger screen.

After toying with this 5700 for a few days , i find that the "Music Face" is there kind of for show. Cause on the screen the indicators are for the joystick buttons and on the face it lacks the stop button, it has a play/pause button onli,da only way u can stop the media player is to use the 5way joystick , which is above the twist. U can use the "music face" for zooming in n out while in camera mode or use the volume up down button for zooming the camera. But if u want to do a search for music n need to use the keypad to keyin titles, u will have to twist back to the "Phone Face". So can anyone tell me whats the "Music Face" for ?

hahaha...there's no practical use for the music buttons to be there...but since its a ~express-music~ phone...dedicated music buttons is like an indicator for ppl to notice and say "oh yes this is the express music phone".......its all for show...but what i've heard...u can hold on to the play button when u're normal phone mode...means music buttons are behind....u hold it....can start music wan...if i'm not wrong

But when u want to search songs, twist back again to type. The music player supports music covers as well, but malas want to go assign songs to their covers. |

shuffle play is always possible. but one thing. when i shuffle, it always plays the first song in the playlist before shuffling/random-ing to another song. any of you have the problem?

Just opened the box n took the adapter and plug in a pair of SE walkman earbuds. The handsfree looks nice I must say, Chrome+white.Come with a locking mechanism on the side cause u will press on the Volume+/- when holding it.Sounds alright. Then I took out the Nokia supplied earbuds to give it a go. Same song , pause, change the earbuds,play.Suprisingly it has more bass than the SE Walkman ones on the same setting.I dunno much about sounds,but if i were to go on a bus or LRT now n need to choose between the SE n Nokia earbuds for the 5700 ,i will go with the Nokia ones.
Tried the nokia ones with Stereo Widening n Loudness settings. I like Stereo Widening =On , Loudness= Off. Seems that Loudness should always be off, speakers or earphones. |

been reading the previous posts....i like the design what....abit bulky...but i like big phones........oh ya..i have a question....if u open the flap...got like option to choose what u want to do with it?....lets say if i wanna take out memory card...if there isn't a warning msg...it can damage the data inside the memory card when there is an application still running on the background.....right?

Well, just found out that the Nokia bluetooth headset BH-501 is not compatable with the n70/73 music edition. So there is one thing that differentiates the 5700 and the n70/73ME. Kind of thinking of getting the set, wonder how much it will cost...

my first 16m colors hp. hehe..
i luv it..  the only downside is the rubber flip cover for the power, usb and memory. I bet in a few months that rubber flip cover will loose and tears apart. It happened to my old ngage. This phone very annoying when u twist your camera 90 degree to front ready to take a photo . if wanna adjust eg. flash , shooting mode ... your hand so difficult to use the joystick .....

what makes SE joystick spoil so fast is becoz they're set in a spot....and when they get misalligned....it gives users problem....but this phone's joystick is loose....means when u put ur screen face down.....the joystick would be dangling...

well,i own tis phone almost a month now. tis is wat i think of tis phone.
PROS: -the dual stereo speaker is very clear but loud enough(not louder then my fren's n73me) -the sound is even awesome when using a good earpiece(not refering to the earpiece which nokia provided) -twisting mechanism is quite durable -latest symbian & user friendly -screen is very clear & big -camera is good in day light -great video recording in mp4 320x240 res -can watch video at 45degrees in landscape video mode. -video ringtone is awesome -indeed very fast due to 369MHz CPU -design not as bulky as shown in the web Cons: -camera is really POOR in less light area especially at night  (its even worst then other nokia 2mp hp). u can see the white spots all around the screen. mayb is the ISO setting set until very high.-when in camera mode,cant take pics using one hand coz the capture button is the mp3 play/pause button so there is not enough space to grip properly. -there is a 1-sec shutter lag,so u'll hav to hold the phone steady even after pressing the capture button when taking a pic. -the design is using a joystick(never like joystick coz hard to go left n right) -when in video/camera mode,the joystick/buttons is very hard to press coz too cramp. -the charging socket,mini usb,micro sd slot is covered by a rubber pad(afraid it will soon peel off) -sometimes will restart but luckily it doesnt take too long -the menu button is too close to the left selection button(sometimes accidently press both) -when marked multiple images or videos in the gallery,only one image/video is moving into the folder. -the hp is using a 2.5mm jack but the remote control is using a 3.5mm jack -battery normally last one day. the most is 2 days. hmm.. i will giv a 7/10 for tis phone. i hope they will quickly release a firmware tat can improve the camera in less light area n also also fix other bugs. |

planning to get a good phone with balanced music and imaging.... and interested in all symbian phones coz im currently using my 2 years old NGage Prime.....
researched the n70/ME, n72, n73/ME and this 5700 XM (heck i researched many other actually.... this what happens when im really into something )and the 5700XM is cheaper than n73/ME.... of course without the 3.2 Carl Zeiss Tessar Lens... kinda interested with 5700XM.... dont mind the "BIG" phone... coz im a NGage user remember... but is it really ok (still want to ask such a question even though i read the whole thread ??? |

i dont know la about this 5700, but for 3250, same twisting mechanism. a few of my friends use it so far still ok.already 1 year+,still tip top condition.
depends on how u use also, if 'ganas' anything will broke easily... |

Ive just go to phone shop this evening, i see the phone. Interesting and nice look. The sound is really good.
But some of the sellers said the phone can easily 'rosak' coz of twist structure. and i ask another seller they said, it's not true. lol. -.-" anyway, thanks for ur help. =) |

Heard from my father that the phone is not popular because it is easily 'broken'. Broken in what way or what is in the phone that is easily broken, he forgot. Is it true, and if it is, what is it? Also, in Sabah(Kota Kinabalu), where can I get it at the best price? Original set is preferred. Saw one at RM999. Can get any lower? Lastly, what is another alternative to the 5700? Hope the damage can only be caused by wear and tear and not by itself.
I quite like the phone. But I am also eyeing on SE's Walkman series. But this one I like. I found one at RM999, original set. The price drops so fast. AP set must be lower than that but haven't found one yet here in KK. But Original set is preferred.Do you think it'll go further down by January next year? My birthday is on then. :blush. |

Just get my 5700 last night. The sounds quality is good but the camera vice versa. I'm a lil bit disappointed. I have a question to ask, is it i have the problem with my camera or 5700's camera not really good. When i'm taking pics in my room, screen full of tiny red dots. What is wrong actually?

I think it only happens in low light conditions(my experience from a less superior phone cam, and also from the forum i the link). Because the 5700 is aimed towards music, I guess they went skimpy with the camera.

My phone's firmware was updated to v.3.83.
Is there someone who can tell the improvements brought in by the update? I haven't noticed any difference in the last six months that I've been using it. Anyway, it doesn't have to improve (in my case) since it really works great! Its' browser is fast, the music player is awesome, calls are good and loud. I can't ask for more. |

to check latest firmware, open battery, look at the back of the phone..

i have problem with the firmware.. 1st when i make a call sumtime a person i call can hear my voice, i need to restart then i work normaly and sumtime when msg come in the hp will restart normaly..
however after i update firmware (althought the update is the same version with current firmware in my hp )the voice problem seem gone. but msg restart issue seem become frequent.. hope anyone can suggest best firmware and how to upadate correctly thanks. |

I'm using 5.11 firmware now ... flash with phoenix. But now my phone joystick got problem. I think too many dust build up inside. Need 2 send for repair. You guys or gals got change before the cover? does this phone support 4gb or 8gb micro sd card? anyone tested before?
