QUOTE(vixxiee @ Mar 21 2008, 11:57 PM) i just find out how to generate a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) in Vista (on purpose!) Microsoft claims that Windows Vista is the most stable version of their OS yet... so stable that you may not ever see the dreaded BSOD (or Blue Screen of Death) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « http://www.ocmodshop.com/ocmodshop.aspx?a=1100and? Stable is in everyday use. This is not everyday use

QUOTE(myitlab.net @ Mar 24 2008, 09:33 AM) Microsoft claims? They want to make me laugh to dead. Someone please stop me from laughing. Among all the Windows-based operating system released by Microsoft, Windows 2000 SP4 was the most stable. Over 4 years never had any BSOD and never crash so far. If anyone here still remember Windows Me (Millennium Edition), Windows Vista is just like them. Windows Me was the stepping stone for Microsoft to test and prepare for Windows XP. So Windows Vista is also just a stepping stone for Microsoft to create the next OS, Windows 7. Read here: http://www.montaguespirit.com/?p=371Depends. if you remember ME was released just as we come into the new millenium and Microsoft took advantage of that. XP and ME was based on different cores. Vienna meanwhile will be 100% based on the Vista core, with just the menu change, WINFs and built in SQL querying server for WINFs to work. Thus it can be said Vista on steroids.

Actually using 1GB of RAM is quite good already for Vista, but 2GB is better for RAM Caching. And my laptop is just a Dual Core (not Core2Duo) 1.6Ghz with 1GB of RAM, and Intel 965GM graphics. And I run Vista ultimate on that without any lag or slowness

QUOTE(caspersky @ Sep 5 2008, 04:11 PM) Unlocker will not do, that problem is not caused by 'some program are using the file'. Rather, i got this problem when i tried to delete an 'already deleted' file on desktop, it seems that Vista doesn't update the status of the file so it appears as it is still on your computer. I refresh the screen and it's gone. But for your case i think it's not that simple, the file name seems to contain invalid characters so Vista cannot recognize it. Guess you have to go back to the source of the file in order to figure out what's causing the name to contain invalid characters. Ah the stupid problem. I usually delete it using DOS. Turn off explorer first tho

QUOTE(sazlee @ Sep 5 2008, 10:06 PM) hi all.. Help me plz.. Can i install and activate vista business (which it is originally come from Dell laptop but the user downgrade it to XP) to my hp laptop.. Thanks You still got the key? Install Vista, without putting the key in. Then when you activate, call microsoft and give then some excuse, and they will give you the activation unlock key. This will only work if you never use the Vista on the old laptop. And remember, now the key is binded to the new PC/Laptop that you installed it on.

QUOTE(DunkyKung @ Sep 5 2008, 11:18 PM) haih..try all method..except dos one,koz i dunno how..the only easy way is to reformat it..now using lanun xp...bye2 vista.. DOS deleting is simple. Turn off explorer.exe first using task manager. Now using DOS, go to the directory that the file is in. Use "CD" to change the directory, eg: to go to C:/example folder, at the command prompt, type C:>cd "example folder" and press enter to delete a file, use the "del" function with the tags /f (force delete)

QUOTE(Thrust @ Sep 21 2008, 10:51 AM) Bro, is there anyway to use DX9 environment under Vista?? DX10 is very demanding and I wish to revert to DX9 for certain games. Please advise. Some games have different exe so that you can run the game in either DX10 or DX9 mode. Try looking in the game directory. And what game may I ask is this? Because there are limited DX10 games out there. And DX10 is backward compatible so that they can emulate DX9 if the game cannot be run in DX10

QUOTE(prasys @ Sep 24 2008, 05:49 PM) I'm just wondering how did the OEM boxes drop. Its weird though. Anyhow , its recommended for you to buy Retail rather then OEM boxes. The difference , well you can't tell. You can activate both of them but I would recommend Retail over OEM at all times , its just to be extra safe. Its still a mystery how they marked OEM Windows Vista (Did it from off from Dell Store ?) Licence wise, better get OEM if you're not going to change your PC in a long time. And heck, my friend who is using OEM have no problem really transferring his licence to a new PC when in practice you can't. A quick call to microsoft usually fixed it.
