yes.. ps2 can produce surround sound.. but yes, only for certain games that have the capabilities and also a decoder..

region protection is might be true.. (some old modchip cant load other region)
old modchip is might be true also.. (my modchip cant play original games,and it is new modchip since mine is slimline) my ps2 cant read disc if u put when it's on. it keep on displaying "reading disc". have to reset the console then it load.
