hai guys.. newb here.. just wanna ask something... i've playing ps2 from 2003 until now... somehow i not use the ps2 even one time to play dvd muvie

is it ps2 can play dvd muvie? i tried it with some dvd but it said that ' please insert ps2 dvd game'

am i need to flash my firmware or something?
