gladys : westerners tend to have a skewered view about female gamers. it's either they are considered losers because they're nerds since they play the time , wear specs, pimple, etc. Or that they just focus on the looks and not on the game skill. it's like there's no middle ground for a girl gamer to fit in. as long as she's a girl gamer, she's either very weird or a bimbo-wannabe.
then again, if Game Axis is getting a man to do the interview, aiyaya. at the end of the day, if you don't get interviewed by Game Axis, i can interview you on my game blog. er, discussion on porn, outside coffee topic lah u 2. |

nah, don't think i'd get it. already took a shot at the interviewer being male so definitely slim chances. ><
never mind lah. as long as 3 of us can sit down and yamcha in May, don't care about interviews. now if gladys or u do write a blog, that would be more interesting news. i've not read Game Axis Magazine at all, to tell you the truth. so I don't really know what it's like. but i can imagine it's very difficult to keep up with online blogs about game news and all. wonder how game magazines make money though, the printed version ones that is. The online game magazine I like to read is The Escapist (www.theescapist.com). Weekly published. Covers stories that most game journalists do not cover. |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Apr 9 2007, 12:55 PM) but as kid said, your opinion is a little bit skewered as well, western girl gamers as a matter of fact occupies a huge % of the gaming market, with mmo's in general and games like the sims. and another research analysist also indicate that girl gamer plays longer hours than general guy gamers of course it's skewered. put it this way. research is done yes. the findings are what u mention yes. what research hasn't necessarily done is persuade the male-dominated community in general that girl gamers good at what they do. girl gamers are usually look down upon or ridiculed for playing a game that is considered mannish.when the mainstream medias are still making a big hoohaa or going big-eyed about the existance of female gamers for more than 20 years, you know that it's not widely accepted for females to be gaming. let's take out nintendogs, the sims, 2nd life. look at the RPGS, RTS games out there. majority of female players are still closet players and only recently have some been speaking up about it. surprisingly, female asian players are more accepted in asian gaming communities compared to the western gaming community. i'm not sure why this is happening but it's easier for an asian male to accept the fact that females like playing games and that they're pretty decent. for westerners, they're still extremely shock that females are gaming or are in denial. Added on April 9, 2007, 1:58 pm QUOTE(seen @ Apr 9 2007, 01:00 PM) Huh? Why? actually, it wasn't intentional but after reading it, my brain went oops. Uhh... I do have a blog but it's a product of boredom in the office. I dont think it can be considered as a blog because it's kinda err..umm...don't know how to explain. But you can check it out and you'll understand:b http://www.seenees.blogspot.com/ a blog is what you want to say. or post. although, it can get boring. i got bored after 2-3 yrs of food blogging. Well, it's definitely nice to hear the response from all of you regarding female gamers.
Although, I admit that I like mixed-guilds rather than an all-female guild There are things that guys are better at than gals and vice versa, resulting in team-effort.. Or it's dependant upon the person. Too much feminity in one group can occasionally lead to ... errrm... rumbles and grumbles. This post has been edited by myremi: Apr 10 2007, 05:19 PM |

Actually I do prefer a stick-shift compared to an AUTO car. More power.

QUOTE(seen @ Apr 11 2007, 11:00 AM) Just something I'm wondering, (this is NOT male bashing or me trying to wave my..um..e-boobs? around) do you feel any different if you were to lose in a duel to a female than to a male when you did not know the gender of that person until after you lost? From the sounds of it, it sounds like he assumed that you're a man, and a gay man at that. Not from the last bit but when you mentioned the word "sister".Coz there was this mage who lost a few times in a duel to my priest and after about 3 consecutive losses he whispered me and said "good duels, bro" and I replied "try sister" and his attitude suddenly changed 180 degrees. He whispered something like "WTF? yeah right!" and I replied "It IS right" and he whispered "yeah whatever, get the f*** away from me you gay" and /ignore me. Then there's this other time when they guy lost and found out about my gender he was like "lol, damn now I feel even worse!". But I've gone into numerous duels with guys who knew about my gender before the duel and they feel OK even when they lost. So what's up with this? As for the 2nd guy, if he feels worst, probably it's due to a bad day (can get to anyone) or low self-esteem. But he's still able to cope with it better than the first guy did. Best is to forget out it and not get too upset about it all. Mind you, even I get upset at times. It's a hormone thing. This post has been edited by myremi: Apr 11 2007, 11:13 AM |
