I notice some small drains near my neighbourhood got ikan longkang there.

How did they migrate there?

Do you happens to live in Penang? I remember about 15-20 years back government actually release guppies to control aedis mnosquito population there.

fish swam upwards during storm when the drain is filled with water?

I have heard of local government doing that in the past, but do they still do it now?

what puzzled me is, how did the small fish got into higher elevation drain ? Those drains only are only 'connected' during heavy rain -

is it possible those fish swam upward in the monsoon drain during storms?

this is how fish to escape their enemy, big fish unable to survive in shallow water...
hence it will go up stream to lay egg.

there was once i heard the longkang in Kyoto, Japan is so clean that u can see koi fishes swimming there.

Guppy are very hardy. They also breed very fast. But needs somewhat clean water.

Either from the live plants or fish you bought, the snails could have born from eggs hiding in the plant or fish.

If there's really a lot of keli fish in that sewer, I'm more concern if there's certain "food sources" there... coming out from the hospital?

Got many kinds of fish inside my longkang.

Dengue cases increases with the reducing number of long Kang fish.

Most probably came from a nearby river when it flooded.
