One day only 10k Yen minus transport and entrance fees. You only can eat very cheap breakfast , lunch and dinner only
Maybe a day can thread ur self a Good sushi Meal that range 4k Yen
*
Very cheap breakfast? biggrin.gif Doutor brekkie set is considered reasonable right? I think breakfast, lunch & dinner easily can set aside around 4-5k yen depending on the meal hmm.gif I'm moderate in terms of food. So far have not spent more than 3k yen on one meal - in both Tokyo and Nagoya.

Good laif! In a way, on a positive note - I can't take beef so that's savings for me ^___^;
1 meal 2k yen is considered pretty luxury. I have asked a Japanese counterpart on how much averagely does a local usually pay for ramen.

He said this:
Below 500yen - Cheap
Between 500-700yen - Average
700 or 800yen and above - Expensive

I used to post Tips of Month on Cheap food in Japan.  biggrin.gif
It been removed

Cheapest delicious breakfast are Family Mart / Lawson. Lawson Egg sandwich are super delicious.
Lunch & Dinner are Yoshinoya / Sukiya.  Cheap and Delicious
Sukiya Webpage

Do this way, One day spent about 2k Yen on meal.
*
And so I heard! Its good to see you make appearance in this section icon_rolleyes.gif
Agree on FAMIMA and Lawson's food. But my favourite has to be ヤマザキ ランチパック - egg mayo or ham。It's like the best bread I've eaten, missed it so much cry.gif tends to get sold out too.

Usually you guys stay overnight at airport or try to rush for the train?
*
Friends and I did @ our first trip. We were lucky because our arrival time was 1hr earlier than expected. However when we reached immigration it was a long queue and that took up the 1 hour extra we had from the early arrival. Thanks to that we managed to catch the last train. The alternative plan was to take the bus/ available train (there are trains that operate past 11+, take note of which line though) and get to somewhere near accommodation and then get a taxi. With shorter distance, it will be cheaper.

cheap  biggrin.gif ¥2000 for 7 days, 200mb per day
see attached photo. i only need it for 7 days. They also give you one extra day meaning you buy the 7 days plan its actually 7+1. You get 200mb of fast internet a day (renewed everyday). After that will throttle.

b-mobile also not bad - http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/
i ued bmobile the last time. dunno why had to keep power refresh my iphone only can connect
*
So its because the price is cheap? Can always get chinti sacwoc or RegentCid to recommend a brand/ SIM Package that is value for money and easy for you to find.

You guys are splitting up is it? If that's the case then yes, more convenient to use SIM.

http://prepaid-data-sim-card.wikia.com/wiki/Japan

FREETEL is cheaper than U-Mobile and you can find it in Yodobashi and BIC, scroll down link to check it out:

Data rates
The SIM is either valid for 7 or 30 days according to package and not extendable in time, only expandable in volume:
1 GB for 7 days: ¥1,780 plus tax (Amazon.jp/Yodobashi: ¥1,922; Amazon.com: US$12.99)
2 GB for 30 days: ¥2,780 plus tax (Amazon.jp/Yodobashi: ¥3,000; Amazon.com: US$24.99)
When you have used up your data allowance, speed will be reduced to 150 Kbps for the rest of the validity. The only add-on option is 500 MB for ¥980 to be bought on their website. Social media of Facebook, WeChat, WhatsApp, Kakaotalk and Line is not debited from the data allowance and is free of charge.

Hi everyone, i never been to Japan and i am planning to go Japan in this coming september with my mum. Not sure which part of the Japan to go yet, but it will be better to join Japan tour for the first time. Anyone can recommend which travel agency offer the best service and price reasonable? Please advice smile.gif
*
Hi there, is budget a concern? And what are you looking forward to do in this trip? Eg shopping or food trip? How much is your budget per pax?

Most of us here DIY our trips, meaning we do research beforehand and plan our itinerary ahead. That saves money and you can take your time to enjoy or walk at your own pace. Also depending on how old your mum is - whether she's able to walk and take train following your pace or she has to take frequent breaks (with this, tour is better). Just want to understand more before any of us give any recommendation(s).

Budget around RM5-6k per pax. Our purposes to visit Japan are shopping and Foods smile.gif
I actually prefer to DIY, but since i never been to Japan. It will be very difficult to plan for the first time, plus recently my works are overloaded.  sweat.gif
So, we decided to signup tour package from travel agency. Next time will be DIY then  laugh.gif
and Yep, my mum is still can walk, run and jump.  biggrin.gif
*
A lot of different opinion from forumers laugh.gif there's no right or wrong, only personal opinion of what is best.

While I always root for DIY, I understand your situation. First time to any country (that don't remotely looks like KL) can be overwhelming and confusing. Since you have decided on tour, I agree with it as well. Not just itinerary, but Japan requires extensive research if you plan to walk around on your own. I doubt I'll be able to go around on my own, had it not been my friends who led the trip in my first visit. Because they brought me around and I experienced the place, I was able to plan my 2nd and 3rd trip without worry. Its because I know what to expect.

For recommendation of agency, I'll root for Mayflower. Honestly speaking, I liaise with Mayflower on many occasions for event, trips (work related) and they are very professional. I'm not sure how much it'll cost for your trip to Japan, but you can rest assured that things are well taken care of with Mayflower. And they work transparently, so you don't have to worry about any hidden cost.

Last but not least, with your budget, go for packages with more Free & Easy. That will enable you to enjoy shopping and food more leisurely.

I find kl to be highly difficult to navigate for first timers... info is hard to find and transportation is complicated to navigate too.....so Japan/Taiwan/Korea already beat us on that...
*
Yes, have to thank our country's awesome planning for all these inconvenience. You'll have to drive everywhere and while MRT is upcoming (some routes ready to use), it still could not reach a lot of other places. And the distance from one station to another is way too far.

QUOTE(sacwoc @ Jul 19 2017, 10:30 AM)
When I was working there, sometimes I just sign up for the local bus tour. Simply because I am too lazy to plan or the hassle of transportation.  If I am in the mood, I will not plan....just reach that place and straight go explore.
*
That's something I have in mind for Japan too! Gotta be bold enough to explore this though, coz worried will get lost and couldn't catch the last bus laugh.gif

Did it once - in front of Sensoji at night, after midnight. Nakamise street was so quiet, with shops all down. It wasn't exactly eerie, except the walk home after that hahaha.

In Japan you need to pay for plastic bags which I think is similar to Selangor. So normally for places like Jusco, they set aside used boxes like pampas at one side. Once you pay you go there and you just pack your stuff inside your box. There is also tapes and scissors so you can tape it as well. Do note that not all supermarket have it, especially those "high class" supermarket.
*
Only in Aeon malls and 'high class' supermarkets? I didn't encounter this in marts and some smaller supermarkets in the mall.
