QUOTE(sweet_pez @ Aug 23 2017, 04:46 PM) Depends. Get to the airport earlier (more than 2 hours prior to flight) and check-in. At the counter, check with the airline whether they can assign you seats that you prefer. If they can do that, they will. It all depends on availability and usually, early birds get the worm. Because you were early and you asked, you may get it. Been to Daikokuya and Tonki I will highly recommend both. Daikokuya was one of the best comfort food I've ever had in Tokyo. The portion was enormous and really delicious. However, manage your expectation. Most of the time people prefer crispy batter for tempura but Daikokuya is famous for their soft batter. I've always preferred soft batter over crispy ones. Tonki on the other hand - was the best tonkatsu I've had in Tokyo. Not like I've tried a lot but I've been to few, including Marugo in Akihabara. In comparison, Tonki is the best out of the ones I've had. im assuming u like soft fries too?

QUOTE(carmenyta @ Aug 24 2017, 10:39 PM) hello, i have a very noob question but I honestly don't know who to ask anymore. I have plans to go to Osaka. I'm bringing 2 kids and I have plans to take the Shinkansen... just for lols. Kids like ma. Issit funny if I take the Shinkansen from osaka to say, kyoto and then without going down to kyoto come back to osaka? cause I have no plans to bring them anywhere else other than Osaka. its japan! go wild! its the only country tht no1 care bout wat u do, i sit right in the middle of shibuya crossing n shout during red lights also no1 giv a shit.

QUOTE(carmenyta @ Aug 25 2017, 09:27 AM) i've thought of that but there's nothing to visit in Kyoto that's suitable for MY kids. all are nature walks and temples which i think my kids may not appreciate. i'm dragging two kids along and knowing them, i know they are going to complain, complain, complain which is why osaka seems to be the ideal place for them. how many days u r going? is usj on the list already?

QUOTE(sweet_pez @ Aug 25 2017, 09:32 AM) HAHAHA how old are they? Here's some recommendation on what you can do for a day trip in Kyoto: https://www.insidekyoto.com/kyoto-with-children It's really a waste not to visit Kyoto when you're already there. At least drop by the Zoo or cafe there and take a stroll before going back to Osaka. actually can go arashiyama, got monkey mountain there, im sure kids will love it

QUOTE(sweet_pez @ Aug 25 2017, 09:42 AM) I think she's afraid the kids will be bored with the journey and hike there. I agree that kids easily get bored and places like temple etc you gotta be abit more zen. I can imagine kids screaming, nervous parents trying to calm them down lololll well many adults think tht kyoto is boring too, my fren came and visit me last year and bring them to kyoto, the bf complain boring...way too many shrine

QUOTE(ukiya @ Aug 28 2017, 10:19 AM) my range something like yours ... but slightly lower... applicable for AAX rating or budget airline rating only. All in with Baggage, food and seat. Below RM300 - Sibeh cheap, cant believe own eyes (bought twice to Hokkaido, first (launching promo) round RM210, second round RM99) Around RM500 - Cheap (Got this price range thrice to Osaka this year 2017.) Around RM800 - So so lo... but if for NZ, its damn cheap. (Got this price range for my whole family of 10 fellas to Hokkaido, 2018 for Sapporo Ice Festival) Around RM1200 - Normal Around RM1500 - Look for alternative or other airline. i nv seen AAX promo ticket in my life before...every time ppl tell me got promo i go check also same price

QUOTE(wkwong91 @ Sep 3 2017, 01:11 AM) probably disneyland. any reason why recommend sea? coz disney sea itself is unique, nicer and bigger. disneyland is the same throughout the world, if u been to paris, or HK disneyland d, then its definitely the same. or if u planning to go any other disneyland after this n not going to visit japan again, then disney sea is the one u really should go This post has been edited by chinti: Sep 3 2017, 01:13 AM

QUOTE(aberrant80 @ Sep 3 2017, 12:58 PM) Hi, I plan on staying for two nights in Kyoto, would anyone recommend staying in Gion area, near the Gion-Shijo station (near Pontocho)? Seems like a lot of the places there are old houses/buildings. My alternative is to stay near Kyoto Station, since I will be going to Tokyo after Kyoto, but Kyoto Station area seems much more expensive than Gion area. I will mainly be taking bus around Kyoto I think, not planning on bicycle rental. gion is a nice place to stay especially its quite boring in kyoto at night, so staying at where most ppl gather around r more fun at least thts my case
