I am planning to build a 6 numbers of GTX1060 and would like to know if a 850W Gold rated PSU is adequate (I'm looking at Corsair RM850X)

Most probably undervolt the GPU so that it reaches ~100watt (6x100W=600W) plus mobo, SSD,etc (~100W). Total expected wattage is ~700 Watt for full rig.

Depends on the market, either ZCash (more profit) or Nicehash (straightforward)

I was planning on it as well but it is quite risky that it is the transient period from POW TO POS. Nevertheless, heard that none of currency survived with POS. I might just go to cloud mining maybe.

Anyone willing to shred some light to convert the output of cloud mining to fiat money? Will it be better to invest RM5000-7000 to start home based mining. Any charges that need to take note with. Lastly, why don't the cloud mining service provider do their own mining?

Don't choose the SHA-256 mining algorithm.
ALWAYS choose SCRYPT.

What is so curious about that?
They use ASIC Scrypt miners to mine Litecoins and convert them to Bitcoins at the prevailing LTC/BTC exchange rate.

lol bro, thanks, at the same time i had gotten the reply from google tongue.gif

its all up to you, there is no safe heaven in this world. i will give you want others would tell you :-

1. mine other coins. these coins are making less than mining eth now. so imagine all the extra gpus from eth mining these coins after POS.
2. sell off your cards. yeah, the market gonna flood with mining gpus and gamers normally preferred non-mining gpus or offer you a low ball price (at least that what i will do).
3. alot of people doing it now. this i have no comment, its like a bubble. you enter at a correct time, you gain. BTC gpu mining was profitable until asec miners flood the market. LTC same thing. ETH until DAO hack and recovered for now, maybe specialized GPU might kill those normal gaming gpu mining or POS gonna kill mining.

about POS, we have been hearing it since long time ago. no people can confirm when, it could be tmr or 10 years later. You have all the info now and you can decide it yourself. its business and investment, no 100% guarantee profit.

exactly, but from chinese forum stated, PoS CC seem like hardly survived.

Can't remember the exact amount but it was around hundreds. maybe... around 400-500 I think. Heard some did solo mining on powerful PCs earning tens of thousands.
For those who just started mining, here's my experience. Screw whoever that says U can't earn with DDR2-grade PCs. Just need more work than just collect and hodl/withdraw.
core2duo la. socket lga775 pc. that's like.... 7 8 9 year-old processors. the 1050Ti is in a X58 Asus Sabertooth mobo, LGA1366, first gen i7.

nicehash doesn't support them unless you modify the config file for certain coins like monero to include CPUs using xmr-stak in nicehash folder/bin/xmr-stak/cpu.txt (set to use 1/2 of the cores, so daily pc still can use). but I didn't, and just use the GPU's to mine. I don't really turn off my PCs, and I set nicehash to mine when idle on non-dedicated machines.

no overheating, as I cleaned the pc beforehand, and replaced the thermal compound as it's way too old, and just letak a RM20 CM fan on the GPU to cool the GPU and the CPU. on HD6850 temp stays 70-80C, 750Ti 60C, 1050Ti 65C.

I also got some shit GPU like a fanless R5 230 that got me like RM15 a month, but retired because it's just too shit biggrin.gif
If you ask me, the key is not big budget, or small budget for something like this. you can get a RM50k mining pc if you want, but if the ROI takes 1 month then go for it! For me these old crap are already free. 750Ti I got it at a massive discount, RM50 only. ROI in 10 days. TDP 60W, about RM22 electricity cost. some days in a month that card got me RM7/day.

just with the old pcs, I managed to get about 0.014 BTC @ RM420 for few months of mining with nicehash, when BTC was around 5k USD I think. When BTC was 20k USD, I shapeshift them into Dash (fee is a bitch, but it's in a wallet, and BTC transfer fee was even worse), then Dash-BTC market rose up like mad when BTC fell down. Transferred back to BTC, and I got shitloads more than just 0.014 originally. then I heard Roger Ver's shit twitter manipulating btc to pump and dump bcash. so I also pump and dump la, sold btc for bcash. then when bcash went USD3k I sold it back to BTC. some I take out for Dash, sent it to cryptopia, and just exchanged for some shitcoins like XVG la, Doge la, DGB la, and a bunch of others. some got me profit almost immediately, those coins rose up like mad, like KAVI up by 1700% against BTC. I think I put like 0.005 BTC on it, and managed to sell it for 0.085 BTC (RM30>RM500). Good thing Luno is having withdrawal problem, I just do simple trade like this. even of some of those shitcoins rugi like 3%, 5%, or even 10%, I don't mind as I think all of these coins that I got are of equal amount (0.005 BTC) and KAVI and DGB and a few others punya insane profit can cover those rugi coins just fine, and I'm in no rush to cash out when luno and btc tx are having issues.

user posted image
This is just now. if you park RM1k worth of BTC at 1/4 of these coins combined, good enough margin for the day wat. even if just 5% increase, that's 5% more than simply park at btc and hodl.

so if you want to cash out every month, this "strategy" won't work for you.

I'm actively scouting for cheap old cards around kl, so now that you know what I know, and still wanna sell cheap cards, please pm me! biggrin.gif

ETN was new, and quite popular. generated a lot of news, so it was perfect.

Few months ago there's a coin called Project Monkey, X11 algo, that generated few noise, but to me, project seems crap. but since it's new, I'd lose about a day or two's mining time with my D3, and at that time D3 was crap anyway so what the heck. got a bunch of coins and trade them for a quite a hefty profit.

and as I predicted, it went down because really, it serve absolutely no purpose. I mean, would you in the future, buy something for 2.50 Monkeys? laugh.gif
Change your fan speed. if you're a bit weird for some reason, add a fan that points to the back of the card. I cool off my old HD 6870 this way.
yes. been doing this for a long time. heck a bunch of old core2duo PCs with 1 or 2 GPUs on them are powered by just one of this. this way I can just use 250-300W PSUs just to power the mobos, hdds and procs.

Just get a pentium G4400(RM200+) and Gigabyte GA-H110-D3A mining board(around RM400), you don't want to risk having breakdown using cheap stuff with uncertain quality, then go through RMA process.
Besides, like another forumer said, the heat dissipation is not that good if you directly plug in all the cards on the slots, so better use risers anyway.
*
bro, why dun get a G3900? cheaper choice?
what PSU u use? i saw one they are selling in lelong, a server type PSU with 1500W gold rating rclxms.gif

anyway, since HDD doesn't affect much, how come people wan to get a SSD for their mining? i mind as well get cabulong HDD for it then.

I started mining ETN right after the nicehash crash. I think that time ETN was just launched, so it was crazy insane low diff.

2KH only with multiple non AES old core2duo cpus. it's a monero fork, so can use xmr-stak. just set the easyhash pool (now got web miner, so easy) url, set your wallet (that time I used paper wallet address, then got ElectroneumGUIWallet), and done.
I use this for GPUs.

I just searched "HP Server psu mining" on ebay.com.my. 92-95% efficiency. cheap shit, and worth every sen of the RM250 price for 750W.

RX570 is most efficient with ETH, need BIOS mod that will void warranty.
1070 is not as cost effective as RX570 on ETH but it work well in zcash. No BIOS mod required.

Depends on your risk appetite lor, if you can tahan the stress direct go trading.  devil.gif

i was thinking ETH is going to POS real soon but don't when. So for long term i might as well stick to 1070 mining then.
from nicehash, it profit around Rm16 per day . Look good.

anyway, when u exchange the earning to fiat?

for the exchange, too bad i just from that and thinking to start mining as a hobby biggrin.gif biggrin.gif earn peanut but hopefully earn the hardware for pweh pweh when free brows.gif

My justification: 8 1080ti started in end July, latest by next month sure will complete ROI, not to mention some dumb things I did along the way.
Can't say fast because some people might do better, but at least target achieved. Looking at $2k monthly now, the situation back in july, august was so depressing cry.gif
