profitability depends on your cost right.
in terms of performance yes ryzen is better for mining cost to profit.
folding home better use gpu right ?
banano <- whats their fundamental ? looks like mining monero and give you a fraction of profits rolleyes.gif
*
yes, of cos gpu will be faster, but since CPU is sitting idle, I'll just farm banano with them
almost any cheapo CPU or old GPU also can farm banano tongue.gif

don't care about what's the fundamental also, as long as i got paid twice daily is good enough for me (even just a few cents) tongue.gif laugh.gif

is it still relevant, or profitable if one start building and mining from the scratch today?
*
why not? as long as you put in a realistic ROI projection in your plan, do go ahead

IMO current realistic ROI projection is around 10 months or more, it will be shorter if there's a bull run

for my case, I also just started from scratch in April with estimated ROI of 10 months for my initial investment during that time, but I'm lucky that I've hit my ROI last month already thanks to HODLing & recent bull run before the crash
Now am slowly adding more to my tiny ops icon_rolleyes.gif

Some of my friends wanna jump in as well, but after telling them my expected ROI, all cabut as most just wanna make a quick money in a very short term doh.gif

ETH 2.0 coming? How is your mining holding up or starting to sell gpu rigs? I see a lot of GPU rigs sales lately.
*
from what I see, eth2.0 still got long way to go, at least another 6 to 10 months time if they managed to solve their current issues in time.

even after that, still got plenty of other profitable coins to mine

lots of news outlets are still kinda shallow on crpyto mining, giving gamers big hope that eth2.0 will end the GPU draught doh.gif laugh.gif

Newer ASIC will still remain as the king of efficiency compared to GPU
But each has their pros and cons lah, which has debated to death already...

if it's not damn loud I would have smuggle a few units into my server room tongue.gif

That's retail bro, can get for a lot more cheaper price direct with them. 5 x 3080 will burns about 1000w vs 500w comparing to x4-1u. if you buy the x4 its 2.5g on 1200w.
even if 4u 10 sets would be 5 gh on 5000w vs 5gh on 10000w. heat is better to manage compared to 3080, say pushing 10gh is so much easier compared to secure that much of 3080 not to mention less problems if you are dealing with that kind of numbers of gpu.

only bloody expensive asics on the market now is Goldshell due to overwhelming demand. kd6 lowest so far is about 39k usd delivering on march/april which if kda drop, unlikely you can recover comparing to ethash still can stake and appreciates to make back if ever went into a bear or winter.

fitting in server rack is the best, buy a container of them and just direct ship to a data center still have quota to host. settle all your problems fyi. ROI is about 4 months+- if we're talking about racks of 48u.
ethash has grown by huge amount which i doubt nvidia + amd can contribute that much also. 2021 jan to now is about 2xx% growth if june is about 100+-%. gpu miners will have tough time catching up at this rate.
*
what? data center do accepts ASIC miners? aren't almost most of them requires you to declare the devices you're plugging into their racks and need their approval? hmm.gif

you can get more discount by requesting a quotation from their CS, usually discount is more than 15%, but you don't get the cashback for your next purchase

if the current crypto market is going down trend for another few weeks, we can expect some miners will be off loading their rigs in panic

probably a good time to scoop up a few good deal if you have the spare bullets

unfortunately for me don't have any spare bullets now as I've just expended my rigs not long ago sad.gif

Guys, I am currently hosting my mining rigs in Singapore.

I am considering to move my rigs back to Malaysia due to the electricity cost, hosting rental, etc.

Do you know if I can check-in 10 GPUs and other components like PSU, mobo, on plane? (without declaration tax/sirim).

Maybe will put them in 3 big luggage with proper wrapping on each GPU.

Any idea?
*
you can check in all those on plane's cargo without any issues

just need to convince the kastam officer on your arrival that those items are personal used items, not commercial goods
so it's best to have some invoice to proof those are personal items, else they gonna tax you

worst case scenario? you'll get taxed from 5% to 30% of your goods total value depending on the kastam officer

PSA:
For those who's mining RTM, you can now wrap it in BSC and swap it using pancakeswap

what ppl mine nowadays? bitcoin?
even ETH gonna be POS soon right?
*
there are tonnes of coins out there for you to mine

ppl will mine whatever is profitable or whatever they fancied

some will even mine somethings that's not profitable now and hoping it will worth a lot more in the future

ETH POS still gonna take a few more months, I'm guessing should be around 4Q or end of the year.

For a small time farmer like me, will farm ETH as main until POS, while farming others like RVN, RTM, XMR, BAN & CHIA on the side.

Sold my GPU farm last year and go into Chia.
Hope its worth the bet.
*
Wow~ IMO GPU mining is still much better than chia

QUOTE(teslaman @ Apr 19 2022, 11:29 AM)
I got many TB as well, but pull out once notice its a solo mining, that time Chia new maybe $2k each and discounted to $1k rapidly
*
Chia price has dropped quite a lot since last year, seems it's still on the downtrend, frequent dust storm nowadays doesn't help as well

my mini chia farm is coming to 1 year old, now only got 40% of ROI only laugh.gif
whereas my GPU farm setup around the same time already hitting the ROI few months back flex.gif

Heh, good news & bad news day~

bad news is crypto all red red today

good news is LHR is officially defeated

tried latest NBMiner 41.0 on my 3080Ti, it's getting a 120MHs now similar to a 3090 rclxms.gif tongue.gif

update:
seems I celebrated too early, seems it's still unstable, had random crashes over the night, guess I'll stick to other miners for the time being

*
yeah, now using t-rex, pretty stable now for my rigs cool2.gif
make sure you update your nvidia driver also, there are certain versions that doesn't work with LHR unlock

ETH miner bois, mark your calendar: 19/9

a highly possible d-day for eth mining, keep yourself updated for the news of merge else you will be wasting electricity only while mining nothing

whats the next best coin to mine after ETH? RVN? or just stick to nicehash

it's hard to tell now during this crypto winter time

I think it's only possible to tell based on the statistic & price few weeks after the merge

at the mean time, just mine whatever u fancied

QUOTE(Leto @ Sep 27 2022, 03:13 PM)
guys ..... can ETH still be mine now that its POS?
or perhaps mining become very slow?
*
ETH no longer can be mined

while its old self ETC and the new incarnation ETHW still can be mined using GPU, but it's not really profitable now unless you have free electricity

My rig now only generate 10% of what I used to get pre-merge

so basically Vitalik has delivered a fatal blow to GPU mining, for now only hopefully...
