QUOTE(tishaban @ Jan 21 2018, 09:50 AM) Has anyone bought from taobao? are these real/trustworthy/reliable? Have seen a few brands eg. colorful, but the prices are insane too. Branded GPU from Tmall vendor is reliable. The problem is the higher price and warranty claim. Sending items to china for warranty claim not cheap. |

Bitmain's antminer only has 6 months warranty, if ROI is 8 month then you have 2 months of risks if the miner breaks.
Think properly yo~~~ |

If you have cash reserve to cover the installment in case things go wrong, I don't see there is a problem using bank's 0% flexi.
One year later you can say proudly the bank paid for your rig. This post has been edited by yushin: Jan 22 2018, 04:57 PM |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jan 24 2018, 04:49 AM) What to do, people want easy way. I wonder how many miners actually select and assemble their own rigs, scripting and network configuration. Most people don't even know how to CLI, let alone place flags. Batch files are strange objects to them. Shops sell mining rig also tell customer - no need worry, you just run this software all jalan for you. Configured already. |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jan 24 2018, 09:56 AM) I have a feeling is really rare, just based on the hoohaa from Nicehash crash alone. One of my rojak rig also using NH. Even after the crash people still use it. I also used it at the start but stopped shortly after. Finding your own coin + miner + pool takes a while. Cleaned and standardized rigs will mine their own pool. |

QUOTE(blurcase @ Jan 24 2018, 10:24 AM) I assemble my own rig from scratch, I even DIY my own case using aluminium angle bars to save some cost. I went from mining single coin in major pools, then experiment different software, then change pools to smaller pools, now into algo-switching pool. For me as IT hardware person, I think it is definitely a fun process. Learn alot along the way also. Ya, I agree. Its fun to build and configure your own rig. My first mining rack is build from pallet wood. However my final goal is to put the rigs in proper 4U/6U casing for easier management of airflow and heat. Also no dangling wires. Even pulling and calculating the house electrical load and cooling/ventilation factors. The frustration with rigs that is unstable also very kek lar. Confirm not DAG problem, my GTX1060 3GB are happily hashing at this time without issues.
Btw I don't do dual mining. Maybe try increase your swap file to 24GB? This post has been edited by yushin: Jan 24 2018, 04:03 PM |

How much is one GTX1050TI 4G you buy?
Need to determine ROI before say worth or not. |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jan 26 2018, 03:50 AM) Nowadays RM 900 - 1000 still can get. Lets use ETH as a base since everyone says ETH to the moon after March.Zcash sols should be around 145 stock and around 170 on OC. That's around 3 cards to get the performance of GTX 1080. So assuming 6 cards at RM 900 each that does the performance of 2x GTX 1080 That's RM 5400 for graphics card alone and making around RM 25 - 30 per day. If we go at 30 per day (very high, unrealistic) rate it's 180 days to breakeven on the graphics card. 6x 1050 Ti if tuned already, maybe run around 300W -360W, wall draw comes to about 350 - 420W. That's around RM 75 - 100 a month electricity bill added to existing. Just a rough idea. one GTX1050ti makes 12MH, so a rig with 6 x 1050ti makes 72MH. If you're lucky to get samsubg/micro then you get more. A full rig that has 6x 1050ti, CPU, MOBO, PSU etc costs about RM8K. Currently you need about 330MH to mine 1 ETH per month. With the 72MH power the rig will need (4.58) ~ 5 rigs to get 1 ETH per month. Thats the costs of 40k already. With the ETH price of RM4.3k you can use 40k cash to buy 9.3ETH from remitano. If you believe ETH will at least go up to USD3k on Dec 2018. Why not buy ETH now and hold till end of year? Take note of possible risks/hassle of running a rig: 1) Electric bill 2) The heat and cooling solution required 3) Management of the rigs 4) Safety concern with open casing (kids, dogs, cats) 5) NVidia's new product launch this March 6) ETH goes prove of stake, ok you still can mine other thing after this so not that big risk. Maybe I should buy BTC/ETH instead of building more rigs. |

Since I already have 3 rigs, I'll buy BTC/ETH for now and wait.
Will spend the bought ETH on some ALT coins too. This post has been edited by yushin: Jan 26 2018, 10:07 AM |
