if it states that the PSU is 1kW, does that means it draws 1kW of power constant even though we use... say...400watts? or does it only draw 400 watts (the amount that we use) and the maximum it can supply is 1kW??
quite confusing as some say electricity bill goes up and things like that..

QUOTE(almostthere @ Mar 28 2007, 10:45 PM) fortunately, first assumption is wrong. 1kW will be the average maximum power deliverable available to system. So if your rig draws a maximum of 300W, that PSU will only deliver maximum 300W to your PC. So second assumption is correct almostthere, since that's the case, then why is everybody saying that getting that 1kW PSU will give a large sum of electricity bill? so in another words, if my pc demand 300watts to run, the PSU will only draw 300watts from my main line to run it. now that clear things up a bit! regards, point blanc

No more next time, sorry for enermax. jimlim007, look at the bright side, it's only your PSU got kong off.. enermax is one of the good brands for PSU. rumor has it that enermax PSU can stop sudden surge without causing damage to other parts etc.. mobo, ram, proc, HDD and the list goes on. in another words it sacrifice itself. correct me if i'm wrong. as i was saying, look at the bright side, it's only your PSU RM 285, what IF your mobo + proc +.... got fry ... = >RM285 regards, point blanc
