WAR IS COMING HOME

West Germany, 1988. To avoid certain collapse, the Soviet army boldly advances into Europe. NATO responds only to be met on a second front -- a diversionary attack on the American homeland. You are a field commander, leading the era's most powerful military machines in the campaign to retake America's cities and suburbs.

World in Conflict(tm) is under development by the leading creative and technical minds at Massive Entertainment, creators of the innovative and award-winning Ground Control series.

. Superpowered Warfare - Unleash the arsenals of the great military superpowers in the gripping single-player story created by best-selling author and Cold War authority, Larry Bond.

. MassTech Engine - The latest version of Massive's proprietary engine allows for a full 360 range of camera control, allowing you to get right down into the midst of battle.

. Demolish Everything - Destroy every object in the game - crush cars, destroy buildings, burn forests!

. Drop-in Multiplayer - Join on-going games and immediately help your team take control of the map.

. Fast-paced Teamplay - Master four different battlefield roles; Air, Armor, Infantry and Support, in the ultimate online teamplay experience.

. Super Weapons - Unleash ground-shaking artillery barrages, napalm strikes, and awesome tactical nukes that turn the tide of battle.

Massive have been testing the game on lan environments by bringing the game to various lan parties/tournaments and I have also been seeing ads around the web. So the release could be closer than you think.

I downloaded couples of video and watched. The graphic detail doesnt really out perform COH (interms of explosion, dust, smoke, muzzle flash). However, the 'skybox' in World In conflict definately pwnzor. I really love modern warfare, but too bad it is not the typical RTS game (build base and expand ur army, steamroll over ur enemy and voila)
*
Are you sure about that? The maps a lot bigger than the ones in COH and alot of the previews keep saying that the level of detail extraordinary especially when zoomed in. That and the fact you can turn the entire map into an ash tray and this is just the DX9 version.

Another cool feature is that Massive has licensed 80's music for the game so you'll hear hit songs like 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' in the game. smile.gif

Publisher is Seirra.

Really like the dev walkthroughs, they show practically every aspect of the gameplay.

3rd faction revealed....NATO.

QUOTE
FiringSquad: What can you tell us about the mysterious third faction in the game besides the US and USSR?

Martin Walfisz: Well, the third faction is NATO, which makes sense in terms of probable events. When the Soviet army invades Europe, NATO tries to hold them off and defend its member countries. The faction is quite similar to the way the other two factions are built, but it will of course have its own flavor when it comes to the specific hardware and tactical aids that it uses.

You are degrading this game dude CnC3 suxooors. The game interface is just ordinary this game's game play is totally revolutionising.
I think I played CG1 b4 but not GC2, but WIC's Map is way way bigger, besides I love current warfare.
*
QUOTE(Cheesenium @ May 4 2007, 02:57 PM)
GC was one of the best games i have ever played and i hope this will live up to my expectations.

This game will feature a completely new game play,if not, something close to CoH,not C&C3.

Note that this game have no base so expect to be really offensive and lots of fighting.
*
Massive is also including fps game mechanics like respawning and insta joining games in progress(which is new to rts games) to bring in the fps crowd.

More info on the newly revealed NATO faction. It also has a brand new video.

World in Conflict's NATO Faction

QUOTE
IGN: What are some of the units we're seeing here? Can you describe some of the Armor, Infantry, Air, and Support units for NATO?

Magnus Jansén: There are a bunch of units. There's the British FV510 Warrior Armored Transport, the Flakpanzer Gepard Anti-Air and PAH-1 light helicopter out of Germany as well as the Italian A129 Mangusta heavy attack helicopter.

Don't worry this will be the 1st place I post of any details of an open/public beta if I hear of it. To tell you the truth I never expected to get into the closed beta also, it was a fluke. smile.gif

BTW, anyone managed to get it from Gamespot?

wat does class based mean...? unsure.gif
*
This is what it means.

QUOTE
The four-player multiplayer skirmish that we got to play let us take command of these units. Four players will be ideal for multiplayer because the game basically divides the forces into four types, which is similar to the way the different classes in the Battlefield games work together. One player can choose armor and purchase tanks and other armored vehicles; the second player can select infantry; a third can choose aviation (mainly helicopters); and the fourth can go with support, which is a combination of artillery, anti-air, and everything else. This way, players can focus on their specialty, and instead of having each one juggle all of the different combined arms, they can simply combine their efforts together to get the same effect.
