Holy effin' hell, this is even better than Budokai 3:


Some observations:

- Seems like there will be a total of 24 characters, if counting from the missing "blocks" on the character selection screen.
- MvC style tagging is very apparent.
- Rush and beatdowns are more akin to Blazblue than Guilty Gear.
- There seems to be a total of 10 super bars(?).
- Hyper moves like Vegeta's Final Flash will entirely "reform" the stage, just like in Budokai 2 and 3. LOVE IT!
- Ki charging is in the game.
- In-match transformation is part of the gameplay it seems, at least judging from Frieza's transformation into his Golden form.

The only thing left to make it perfect is to have the original DBZ anime OST (not the bullshit Kai, not the English-bullshit edition, not the rubbish they're doing on Super now) in the game.

Probably a hard task, but damn... please do something Bamco! You have Funimation in your pockets already!

i actually got tired of budokai series and prefer sparkling series but after upgrading to raging blast in ps3 it really disappointed me and it got even worse in xenoverse... now it seem fresh to go back to budokai style with supreme graphics! 

From the gameplay demo, Freeza can change to Golden Freeza while Goku change into SSJ3. I don't know whether Arc System will include another 3 level of transformation for Goku ->SSJ4 (Non Canon) and or -> SSJ God -> SSJ Blue.

So.. Mystic Gohan or Great Saiyaman next? Also wondering if the fusion characters like Gotenks and Vegito will be part of the roster.

Honestly speaking? I'm getting digital. This is a game where I will constantly play, so I'm not going to be arsed about changing disc when moving on to play a "big hit" title.

Yamcha, Tien, and an original character called Android 21 are playable in Dragon Ball FighterZ, the latest issue of V-Jump reveals.

Android 21, designed by Akira Toriyama, is a central figure in the main story, described as like a scientist with an intellect comparable to Dr. Gero, creator of the Androids. She is a character shrouded in mystery and said to cause a big uproar in the story. She is shown with Android 16 in all three screenshots.

Yamcha is a on-the-ground, close-range, rush-type fighter. He uses surprise attacks and combos derived from his signature attack, “Wolf Fang Fist.” His special attack, Spirit Ball, can be controlled with additional input. He can also use his Meteor special attack, “Neo Wolf Fang Fist.” Here are his stats:

tried a hour of the beta, still not understand fully its combo mechanism.
few of the moves require input, but some combo attack is more like spam a certain button 

fighting pace is fast and the art is great!! can't giv too much input since i barely understood its control/combo mechanism

New playable characters Nappa and Captain Ginyu are also revealed. Nappa can summon Saibamen and use the Meteor special attack “Kappa!” Captain Ginyu has a technique that summons The Ginyu Force, and can use the Meteor special attack “Body Change” to switch characters and HP with his opponent.

In Story Mode, an event occurs in which the Super Warriors fall one after the other. When Goku awakens, the spirit of the player will be linked to him. In this way, the story will develop by linking characters with the player’s spirit. In the Android Chapter, for example, the spirit of the player is linked with Android 18. And in the Enemy Warriors Chapter, the spirit of the player is linked with Frieza.

Here are some new details about the game:

    Fights are all about strategy. And fights in Dragon Ball FighterZ are becoming more and more strategical with the arrival of the two new heavyweight fighters, Nappa and Captain Ginyu. Captain Ginyu is quite powerful as players can exchange him with their opponent character until the end of the fight. Nappa is a heavy type character using the Saibamen to attack the enemy. Using the Saibamen in a good way could help a lot to gain time to charge energy or prepare a combo.

    Story Mode will also surprise and delight all the fans with the LINK System allowing them to embody different characters, share their minds and even discuss with them while they live in the same body! Surprises are not finished yet. Composed of 3 different parts, the story mode will allow players to experience 3 different perspectives each offering different details and secrets about the whole story. Players will first play the Super Warriors Arc in the perspective of the Saiyans, then the Super Villain Arc in the perspective of the enemies and finally the Android Arc in the perspective of the Androids. By taking part in different fighting combinations included in these 3 chapters, players will be able to level up their characters and get a full understanding of the amazing Dragon Ball FighterZ scenario! Absolutely pondering whether to get this on PS4 or PC.

My main concern is input lag. Although AcSys as been pretty solid with their GG/BB releases on the PS4, it still lags a little behind the PC.

Either ways, getting the Ultimate edition if those anime tracks can be used in game. Need some confirmation on this.

In related news, Bandai Namco announced that it will release an “Anime Song & BGM Pack” for Dragon Ball FighterZ in Japan, which enables players to change the background music to theme songs and the like from the Dragon Ball, Dragon Bll Z, and Dragon Ball GT anime. The same pack is currently available for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 in Japan, and users who already own it will be able to use it in Dragon Ball FighterZ for an inexpensive price.

Gotenks, Kid Buu, and Adult Gohan will be playable in Dragon Ball FighterZ, the latest issue of Weekly Jump reveals.

Gotenks’ Meteor special attack is “Charging Ultra Buu Buu Volleyball.” While Gotenks’ partner in performing this technique is Piccolo in the original work, the scene will change depending on the partners you assemble in the game. Kid Buu’s special attack is “Planet Burst.” Adult Gohan can use “Unlock Potential” by consuming the Ki Gauge, the magnification of which changes depending on the amount of ki in the gauge. His special move is “Ultimate Kamehameha.”

Outside of the new characters, the magazine also reveals:

Shop – Players will be able to purchase character color variations and titles by spending the Zeni earned in battle.
Arcade Mode – Fight a predetermined number of battles. The route will change depending on whether you win or lose.

Beerus, Hit, and Goku Black are playable in Dragon Ball FighterZ, the latest issue of V-Jump reveals.

Beerus’ Meteor special attack is “God of Destruction’s Judgment,” which seems to go from a throwing technique to a Headshot rush attack. He can also use “Spheres of Destruction,” which creates spheres that explode when they touch the enemy.

Hit’s Meteor special attack is “I Continue to Grow,” which stops time and unleashes multiple attacks one after the other. He uses instantaneous attacks and movement, as well as strike techniques.

Goku Black’s Meteor special attack is “Work of the Gods,” in which he attacks with a scythe and follows with a cloning attack. Zamasu (Goku Black’s true form) also appears and can bind the opponent.

In addition to the new fighters, the magazine also has information on two new gameplay elements:

    “Come forth, Shenron!” – Shenron appears during battle. The seven Dragon Balls will gather one by one as you pull off specific numbers of combos. You and your opponent share the amount of Dragon Balls gathered. Shenron will appear in battle when certain conditions are fulfilled, and the player who fulfills those conditions will have their wish granted. You can choose from four wishes: full HP recovery, teammate revival, addition of one “Sparking!” icon, or constantly recovering HP.
    “Dramatic Production” – Reproduces famous scenes from Dragon Ball before and after the battle when certain conditions are fulfilled.

The Dragon Ball FighterZ open beta will run from January 14 at 12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET / 9:00 a.m CET to January 16 at the same time. Users who pre-order the game will gain early access to the open beta on January 13, also at the same time.
