only the mid and highest spec of 27-inch can upgrade to i7 processor, but very expensive. shocking.gif

add on around 900+ , i am doing installment , every month just need pay extra bit. I think the mac can use more than 5 year (my current macbook air got 4 years and still pretty good), so hope to get the highest spec lol.

if the ram can work with third party..then i go for 8gb first.. after that only upgrade myself biggrin.gif

ic. but rm900 plus it is more than enough to go for the next model (highest price iMac 27-inch model already).
*

Ic. Then it makes more sense since u are already on the highest spec and having i7 can make it real powerful for future proof since the upgrade fee is merely 10%.
*
i not sure the different btw i5 n i7... just if the thing can stand for few years... spend extra cost to make it perfect should ok la.. haha.
where r you planning to get tis mac?

Main thing is the performance difference, i7 certainly performs better but it also likely to trigger more fan run during heavy operation.

I am getting it from Apple online education store as well.

i think after i get this mac.. i will go bac to PC gamer life.. currently macbook not allow me to play too heavy game biggrin.gif

Hi! Go to macsales.com. That's the website of US-based OWC (Other World Computing). Look for iMac RAM upgrade kits. But before ordering, better know the specifications of your RAM. Your order must exactly be the same as the RAM you currently  have in your iMac.
*
the ram spec is different for every mac ? i mean same model of the imac

Yes, different models of iMac have different RAM specs. For eg. the 2017 27" iMac is DDR4 2400MHz, 21.5" is 2133MHz speed.

And if you purchase the late 2015 iMac, the RAMs are DDR3 running at 1867MHz.

So, it is important you find out the RAM in your iMac before upgrading RAMs.
*
mine is 2017 imac 27" .. so i just look for DDR4 2400MHz should be fine right?

It's only half fine. To get the complete picture and full specs, click on the Apple logo on top left corner. Go to 'About this Mac'. Next, click on 'Memory'.

In that window, you'll see a small print "Memory upgrade instructions" or something like that, I can't remember clearly. <I'm on my Windows laptop currently>. Click on that small print. It will bring you to a special page that lists out exactly the RAM specs you need for your iMac. It is more detail than just "DDR4 2400MHz". Once you have that full info, then go to Macsales.com and make the purchase based on that.

<<But actually, having said all that, Macsales.com website is so good that all you really need to do is just to select you have a 2017 27" iMac 3.2GHz (for example) and it will point you in the right direction for which RAM to recommend.>> Nonetheless though, I'd still advise you to know your way around your own iMac machine and do those steps that I've suggested above.

Good luck!  :-)

Oh, you ordered from Apple Malaysia online? When is it arriving?

Yeah, I agree you can upgrade memory later on after you have had time to play with your iMac first. It's already a pretty powerful machine, and better than my late 2015 version.
*
ya. i order from apple store online .. they write estimate 29/6 .. hopefully on time biggrin.gif

lol..is ok.. just share my experience on ram upgrade

if using different size of ram, rmb put the same size closest.

i see some website saying it should put as 1010 , but i think iMac 2017 change the slot, so make sure is putting as 1100 .. otherwise the mac can't on.

anything if got problem on ram upgrade.. can ask me.. i try my best to help smile.gif

Nah. 27-inch won't be ginormous. In fact, once you go bigger, you won't go smaller
