Crypto currency noob here, was thinking of getting 2 GTX 1080Ti to run bitcoin or Ethereum (not sure Classic or the other) Any advice other than read up as much as I can? Im thinking if ROI 9 to 12 months, wouldnt it happen that by that time my card will be too slow for the current usage and hence need to upgrade? assuming that the value doesnt sky rocket suddenly, which wouldnt be bad actually.

What happen if my internet connection cut off for short period of time (let say 1 hour without internet connection and then continue mining). Do I still receive btc/day stated in the mining software or the mined btc for the day completely vanished?

I might be mistaken, but I think Ledger Nano S uses BIP39 mnemonic, which uses a list of 2048 words.
So, you are talking about possible combinations of 2048 to the power of 24.
Even accounting for the check-sum feature, we are still looking at 2 to the power of 264 possible combinations.
I'm too lazy to do the math, but let's just say it is practically impossible without quantum computing.
