Well, if new rancher give him/herself time to learn from books, scientific articles, blogs, forums (including this one), anything from the internet. Plus a 'willing to learn' attitude; buying, asking or even begging around. I guess, He/She will find a way. Or in the end, the classic trial and error - way. With or without consultant.
I believe, most of our sifus and successful indon ranchers also gone thru some of those stages. But just hope new rancher will learn fast enough to find the right spot to start up soonest before experts strike in.

Yes, my BH friends also advice me to built the BH wider like 24' if budget is not an issue.  My contractor charge me RM34 per sqft (including material and nesting plank), there will be an additional cost of 4' x 70' x 3storey x RM34 = RM28,560.00.
My BH design will adopt the tunnel method that is, a void area (roving area) of 20' x 16' from top floor to ground level at the end of the building. The balance of 20' x 54' x 3 floors will be designated for the nesting area. 

Is 20' w x 16' d x 42' h good enough for internal roving area ?
( i have a 20'w x 16'd x 9' h foyer on top of the building for the entrance hole )

Human over-sensitive. There're so many BHs with IR CCTV nowadays. Installed myself and installed 3 sets of customers. All no problem. Birds fly very close to IR cams without fear at all sometimes so close the the bird almost cover up the whole screen. All using 24LED 1/3 inch CCD IR cams. 1/4" also ok just the visible range shorter.
