The old sigma, non-macro version, does not compatible with D200...the HSM doesnt work...the lens just wont focus at all you need to send it back to Sigma to get the firmware updated. Now that reminds me....Scotty, you better check out if your lens work with the D200

I went out a little while ago to check out the lens...it's built quite solidly, and the zoom ring is very tight and accurate. The focus ring is alright, but I'd prefer it to be a little tighter. The lens that I was playing have some problems with it, the focus ring will make some sort of squeeking sound, as if the lubricant is dried up...but it functions perfectly well. I had it mounted on a 350D and that's like the most awkward thing Ive ever seen

i opt for the 80-200mm nikkor

why not direct to 70-200mm VR???

anyway, get nikkor lens better coz it will be faster focusing...

cannot justify yet the 80-200mm nikkor is slower than the sigma

then wait till justify liao baru buy lor...

oh ya, nikkor 80-200 old lens... sigma 70-200 newer ma...

very hard to justify paying USD800 more for VR will stick to the sigma + monopod for now still need to get a true macro lens, a super wide, then upgrade body. Gawd damn I want a vertical shutter release
