Hi sifus, anyone here knows where to get good quality woodworking router bits locally ah?

I go to like 10 different hardware store already pun takde, and the cheap router bits I got from shopee all like china brand, either struggle to cut or bent  cry.gif

At this point do like I have to look at amazon from US to buy bits?
*
Lavie bits on shopee. Pretty good stuff.

hi folks, I wanna find a cordless sds drill to drill through reinforced concrete (beam or second floor concrete plinth) which brand and model should I go?

I prefer bosch since all my power tool collections are all bosch but still open to other brand.

How big of hole diameter? If smol hole 20mm GBH180Li brushless version would be a good choice.

is it easy to drill the wall tiles without being cracked?

i am planning to slow drill it then change to hammer drill at the end but should i spray some water while drilling?
*
Easy but better use a PROFESSIONAL drill to look pro laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Haha jokes aside what you will need is a 500rpm or slower mode in the drill driver.

No need to worry, use spade bit and drill slowly on NON-hammer mode, tile depth u can get from tile edge or so, once u gone past (not just the tip) the dust will change colour (from tile colour/white) to cement mortar colour.

Per hole:
Expect to take 8-10mins best case, or >30mins if hardwearing floor tile used as wall tiles.

Please check + axes of any water points to avoid water spout problems.

i was trying to ask my contractor to do but he afraid of taking accountability if anything cracks  sweat.gif

can recommend me a cheap drill for my case? i might want to buy 1 in case i need to use in the future
*
Up to 10 holes can lah
https://shopee.com.my/Wately-Battery-Cordle...16468.717597438

If you need a lot of holes (not just water heater)..but mirror, towel rail, etc..
Just buy the latest Bosch GSB185 metal chuck icon_idea.gif drills more accurately than plastic chuck
https://shopee.com.my/BOSCH-GSB-185-LI-Cord...682.20309501938
pao with 2AH + charger for RM459

Spade bit 6mm
Buy a few and keep, in case ur tile very hard.
https://shopee.com.my/Navato-Glass-Bits-(6m...0761.6583249403
These are consumable items IMO and contractor don't really want to drill tile because time consuming + battery consuming if cordless & kena fcking hard rock tile.

had a look at bosch before but seems too "professional" for my usage lol. my friend told me just go for cheap china drill if rarely use it
*
China drill OK lah but won't be a "family heirloom"
The cheap china drill better buy w 2 batteries.

1) may be hard to find batts
2) tile drilling makan battery coz 8-10min best case per hole. U need to go slow (<500 rpm) gear otherwise u just polishing ur drill bit. Its like peeling onion layer by layer due to the tile material.

QUOTE(ar188 @ Feb 22 2023, 09:55 PM)
actually i dont see any thing great about the "professional" blue bosch series. at least not in woodworking. makita is way better, and festool/mafell at the top of the price chain... maybe contractor level ok la they hebat. professional contractor. if there is such a thing. hahaha

for me, i view ryobi as low end cos i also use festool/makita combo for wood working. so if ryobi is low end from my angle., then those china brands are like disposable brands. laugh.gif
*
Blue bosch cheaper by equivalent makita by RM100 leh. Makita battery more expensive laugh.gif

*

More than enough because u only need 6mm hole
Unless the mirror weigh more than 10kg

Hi, I'm looking for a cheap drill for occasional use like hanging Ikea shelf. I stay in a condo so i guess i'll be drilling into concrete? Any recommendations around 200 like the ones in shopee?
*
bigger motor if you are staying in an OLD condo "40+ years" with very hard concrete by now, but >3kg
https://shopee.com.my/Daewoo-850W-4-IN-1-Ro...7400.5462085701

for new condos and you don't do trenches (korek longkang) in concrete this is light and does the job for finger sized holes (TV bracket sleeve anchors) or wall plugs (shelves, curtain rails) 100% ok, this being a lighter machine is more fun [not so heavy] for light duty purposes.

and if you only drill 10-20 holes maximum for those 6mm wall plugs
even a cheapo rotary hammer <100 bucks (bare unit) also can liao. but must be rotary hammer (not impact drill/hammer drill coz those are toys)

https://shopee.com.my/EKCO-FOX-GBA-2-20-SRE...0870.2248969255

add a 5.5mm (slim #6 wall plug) + 6mm (fat #8 wall plug) SDS+ drill bit say about rm4.50 ea

Can this be used to drill IBS walls?

My landed house is built with prefab IBS wall, looking for a decent or slightly better than good enough drill for my DIY work.
Can the sifus here recommend me a good price-to-value product?
*
Cast walls just get a rotary hammer. Buy all these underpowered toy hammer drill only lead to misery.

If you just wanna drill a few holes any RM200 rotary hammer will work, Total or Daewoo.

If you want a lightweight one
Bosch GBH 2-20

Hi,

I’ve been considering to get Bosch GRO 12V-35 to cut the curtain tracks as in the photo below.

user posted image

Does it suit? Is it easy to operate?

Alternatively, is there any workshop in KL willing to accept a small job like this?
*
Use a grinder to cut aluminum, very easy.
Do note the cutting disc got its thickness to worry about when you mark the line.

Also, do note grinder discs have expiry date.

Cutting aluminum tracks, spin up kaw kaw to max rpm and cut slowly.

Last time bought new pine wood planks from them to make a TV rack.. (pre MCO)

Just went recently, they expanded the parking lot and paved nicely
It sells almost everything, power tools, paint, some hand tools, ceiling fan, bathroom cabinet, WC, cold mix bitumen, putty, plumbing fittings, some MK sockets. Clientele is split between trucks and myvi types. I find it a bit cramped (compared to CSM 225/Tmn Sri Muda)

Hi sifus! Looking for some advice for the right tool for a drilling holes into Corian (solid surface countertop).

I'm planning to install an undersink filter with a filtered water faucet (the small kind for drinking water), and I need to drill through countertop because the sink I have is undermount, no surface to put the faucet.

Borrowing a friend's Bosch tools, but he insist need rotary hammer, while I think an hammer drill is sufficient because it's more resin compared to quartz.

What is sifu's opinion? Drill or Rotary Hammer?
*
Just use drill w/o hammer mode. There is a risk of cracking if you anyhow hammer it. For nicer hole use those diamond tipped bit from CN eg. https://shopee.com.my/VOKTTA-6-8-10-12-14-1...760.19281499735

100% nope. 18V packs from bosch/makita don't use this shape of 12V batt.
