Today i was using my grinder to cut some thick nails with a abrasive type cutting disc and it shattered into pieces when I was cutting the nails!
Luckily I was wearing PPE and grinder with guard installed.
I cannot imagine with I don't have those safety equipped. Phew! Scary...i think I might not use any more abrasive type cutting disc to cut metal and nails...
*
Did you spin the disc kaw kaw to max speed before cutting?

Thanks. notworthy.gif  This looks nice, but was looking for corded. Cordless too expensive, and doubtful of the real power.

Cordless is OK (nowadays with all the souped up 4AH and bigger) but runtime will be just minutes lah, that's the only drawback.. corded run all day.

Looking for a rotary hammer drill for tiles removal ~400sf.

Should I get a cheapo one or Bosch 2-24?
*
Cheapo ones, mainly vibration control not there and its heavy.
Bosch 2-24 / Makita HR2470 or the Hikoki equivalent
Since using long period for 400sf the 2-24 is a good idea.
Rotary hammer can drill stuff..demo hammer if wanna delete walls

You didn't answer me your intended use case for it..
so we can assess if suitable or not.

ie. what do you plan to use it for, and what materials you're gonna drill in.

Yeah. For serious work, go for Milwaukee
*
600 with 2AH and charger quite a good price for it. (metal chuck, 44Nm)
Gives the bosch GSB 18V-50 (metal chuck) a run for he money.

I haven't use the Milwaukee M12 Fuel drill driver yet, but there is really a big diff between plastic chuck stuff and metal chuck of GSB 18V-50. Bits center perfectly and it can survive hours of nonstop drilling.

That depends on few factors
1. Are you in west or soviet states of MY?
2. Must be Hikoki or open to other brands?
3. Intended use case, everyday use workhorse or its DIY/hobby occasional use only?

So (1) no issue even if u order online biggrin.gif

(2)

price wise can probably mix and match bosch to get more tools laugh.gif
bosch is pretty cheap coz of preferential duty I think; and batteries are cheaper than makita
-- sometimes assembling your own kit is better out of solo tools and piecemeal from diff sellers according to pricing, so you can customise what you need if you're not urgent to use it
-- last time I did that and I got a rotary hammer (brushless GBH180LI)+fast charger+4AH procore for 777 (old pricing)
-- add drill driver around 220 (GSB180LI plastic chuck); or GSB18V-50 metal chuck around 320
-- add impact wrench (can open truck 21mm nuts easily) GDS18V-400 around 400 when I got it, now solo tool about 445 on shopee
-- add another battery procore 4AH, now 310
=1900

I have a concern on the 1.3J of the rotary hammer.
Its a bit weak if you do heavy drilling and korek lobang (chasing), but it may be the right amount for those 5.5mm/6mm wall plugs without creating craters in plaster.

(3)
May not need impact driver (the hex bit screwdriver) if you're not regularly driving lag screws into hardwood timber;
since the kit already come with impact driver
meaning to say a drill driver + rotary hammer would probably suffice for all home use.

you don't need to buy everything at once biggrin.gif

start with MAKITA or MILWAUKEE

soooo many 18V toys to play with

sincerely, owner with stuck BOSCH 18V system. i have like 5 power drills, 2 impact wrench, 3 hammer drills, 2 grinders, 1 multi tool and basically u have bought ALL of BOSCH punya 18V tools... haihs... really boring

The bosch 18V vacuum worth to get or not? brows.gif I was thinking I could use that to clean my prison cell aka rental room
Since I brought the drill driver over with 18V batt so I don't think I wanna change out of Bosch so soon laugh.gif

no. they are not compatible, although there are adaptors for that

what i am saying is that MAKITA and MILWAUKEE has sooooo many power tools u can choose from and collect and grow your collection

many usefull stuff also

like MILWAUKEE has that powerful angle impact wrench

and MAKITA has that awesome but completely useless coffee maker and powered wheel barrow. LOL

Nice to haves vs actual in-everyday use toys though laugh.gif

I saw someone use the makita cordless vacuum today at the food court laugh.gif

those china 36v...48v...powerful?

thanks ...

china those all fake v sia
repeating same issue. GSB120 spec at best.

It depends what u want to do..
General use drilling walls GBH 180LI rotohammer should be perfect. Lightweight and no need to struggle with cord not long enough etc.
Keep your GSB120 as screwdriver.

Else if driving screws directly into solid balau go for impact driver.

Planning to buy the Milwaukee M12 combo set.
Actually wanted to get a set of 18/20 volts tools for home DIY stuff but seems like the M12 is good enough for most work and much cheaper.
Looked at Bosch and Makita tools as well but Bosch is mostly brushed tools for the more affordable ones and Makita brushless is quite expensive.

Hikoki seems to be not so well supported as there are only a few sellers online and prices are quite steep. There is one good combo with 4 tools under RM2k but every solo tool is at least RM1k. I remember Hitachi tools used to be quite cheap and abundant not so long ago.

My main question-  is it a good idea to go for M12 tools or should I spend more to get the 18/20 volts from other brands? I prefer not to different battery systems but somehow it seems unavoidable.
*
M12 milwaukee should be decent enough. Actually, brushed or brushless not so critical at home as you're unlikely to run out of power if its not a power hungry tool (eg grinder/circ saw/vacuum).. if its just drills and impact wrench they don't really eat a lot of power

Though if you want to use impact wrench on 12V.. this is the one case u might have limitation of M12 IW as its only 339Nm..may be borderline case for tyre nuts - whereas Bosch IW 18V does 450Nm easily can open tyre nuts

More like predrilling needed.. depends on what you're screwing into?
18V should work but idk bout this DCA coz no published Nm spec laugh.gif

To be honest if you're not using the other stuff often (at home) like cordless grinder it's like pushing you to buy stuff you don't need
My reco is usually just go 18V Bosch, one nice drill driver (GSB 18V-50 for continuous duty hours on end wub.gif or GSB180LI if just light duty) n one cordless rotohammer (GBH180LI).

Because the rotohammer cordless isn't that expensive
You just need investment in one 18V batt (say 4AH) and any 18V charger.

Its kinda niche thing because hex bits usually only used for socket bits IIRC
We been running round shank bits since forever (for metal/wood) and concrete wall already using SDS+
Hardly have use case for hex bits unless you are using with the home use-end cordless screwdriver

Aiya home use just stick with round shank lah. Introducing another length only makes the end point very unstable with the plastic chuck drill.

Hi, I am thinking to buy tool for normal use like screw on self assemble cabinets, or making a hole for plastic plug for surface like tiles, walls. Any suggestion? Maybe Bosch for starter
*
If you're not drilling in concrete wall, any cordless drill also more than enough for furniture (especially Ikea ones).

If you need to drill tiles I'd say just get 18V GSB180Li, the Bosch 18V stuff is cheap in MY (solo tool-wise) in comparison to the M&M's. Extremely hard tiles are also hard on the battery.

If brickwall (red clay/sand) a GSB180Li or GSB120Li will work-lah. About 1 min per hole.

If you are staying high rise with concrete wall u will need a rotary hammer, either a cheap Daewoo for <20 holes corded below RM200 - or a cordless GBH180Li if you actually do this as cari makan tool simply because its lighter and less tiring for all day usage; plus not all sites have ready power source.
Rotary hammer does wallplug holes in seconds. Not annoying. What's annoying is people trying to use a so called "hammer drill" icon to do concrete drilling for hours (it can take 10-20 min per hole with the wrong tool).

*
GSB 180 plastic chuck series;
B for bang aka got impact icon of toy hammer. Brick walls ok
R for reverse only. No hammer. No wall drilling

GSB 18V-50 metal chuck. Better accuracy and more tahan vs plastic chuck. I hv one and like it very much over the GSB180 for continuous duty use.

Variants wise
B for bang. has the impact toy hammer icon. Can drill brick walls. Not for concrete
R for reversible. no hammer so not for any walls. More for just ikea furniture assembly

Maybe DIY furnite once in a year, but not in d plan yet,jz in case...

Impact or Basic?
Drill or Driver?
12V or 18V?

Actually if u getting two things, ie a rotohammer and drill driver might as well go full cordless 18V. Coz solo tool not much more for the GBH180Li brows.gif

Light duty screwdriver either GSB120Li [enough for most screws in the home] and thats about it for ur purchases..or GSB180Li if u wanna expand to more 18V stuff. If a lot of tile drilling the 120 is lighter but smaller batt, 180 can take big batt for longer runtime.

Note: GSR is cheaper but it cant do brickwalls.

Good bits like M Shockwave last longer but makes the diff if heavy assy usage. Else buy the gold PH2 bits but use and throw like mechanical pencil leads.

Is 12v and 18v have big difference?
For home and diy user
*
If you buy just ONE tool, a 12V drill driver e.g. GSB120Li will work great for assembly of ikea furniture and wood/metal/red or clay bricks, or normal tile (eg water heater mounting) drilling [all these can work well]

If you plan to expand more than 1 tool, i.e. u wanna hv a rotary hammer eg GBH180Li (concrete/RC wall) + drill driver eg GSB180LI or GSB18V-50 + oscillating multi-tool + work lamp (for dark areas), 18V give more flexibility in terms of tool catalogue, and higher runtime (in case your developer put those hotel grade floor tile as wall tiles, those are extreme edge case whereby I really spent 30 mins per hole to drill 6mm).
For 18V, assuming you buy a big battery (3AH or 4AH) + a charger = the solo tool (cordless 18V) is normally not much more expensive than the 230V wired version.
However investment in the battery (say one 4AH = 2xx) and charger (say 100, although if speed of charge not important any charger also can lah.

QUOTE(ozak @ Jan 28 2023, 07:38 PM)
Thought min 18v at least.

12v for home diy.

Video here abit. Show us the power.
*
Technically I do use 18V for home DIY kitcab from ikea.. but hardly go beyond 1st gear on 5th speed selector.. so theoretically a 12V would be more compact for kitcab
But I don't mind having more power on tap if needed (18V)
