but don't u think those criteria do reflect d quality....most of d students in this forum speak high of taylor n sunway.....

whenever ppl said where to go for A-level....taylor is alwiz one of d best option
*
Yes yes, Taylors and Sunway are the most "talkabout" colleges. Anyone whose parents have loads of money can enrol there on a MAFA scholarship. Nice buildings and architecture? Super nice Admin staff? Well, the students there paid for it.

Geez, why do you choose where to study based on the buildings and their staff?

Amanda85, Amanda Amanda..... Phew... I do agree with you that every colleges sure have their good and not so good lecturers and it's luck that they will teach the class you're into. So, you said what you can choose is environment...Don't get mad, I'm just telling the truth....TARC's environment is not bad as you think. You've might not been there but it's certainly way way way way way bigger than Taylors, Sunway, even USCI. Talking about Taylors, there buildings aren't really big and clean. I would personally suggest to go have a look in TAR. Facilitites wise, there's nothing to worry about TAR, definitely. Only things I'm pissed off with TARC is their hostel's canteen. That sucks!

The Admin staff, well when you are studying, put in this way, when I was studying at TARc, I think I only dealt with the admin staff 3 times the most ( to pay fees). That's it, so what if they really suck?

wow, you guys might ahve created an impression that I'm a TARC staff or some sort of MCA kinda guy. NO NO NO, I'll tell again, I'm a formerly a TARCIAN.

OH ya, a case in point... when I was still looking around for colleges for my a-level, I came across Sunway. The person who attended to me was speaking in a very very very thick British accent. Her face? Serupa Chiniaaaaa. I guess that gimmick sure impress some. What a shame.

ok...i'm an outsider...i'm not TAR grad....i only know a handful of them...

but is juz that if d admin give bad impression, wat would d public think of their lecturer qualities...

so, i need to assume that eventhough their admin staff sucks...their lecturer is suppose to b good...eventhough it was recruited by d same human resource department...

btw, i'm not here to debate about TAR...other thread had said load about it edi...it juz going round n round...

ok ...to finalize everything...do u guys agree that a-level standard in stamford n TARC will be almost d same?? if yes, then v'll choose stamford...becoz is NEARER to my house..case close

OK, I would like to give my intepretation of the conclusion....which is, it doesn't matter what college you go to, what lecturers are teaching you, what environment you are in. Having a proffessor of very high standards to teach some a** who doesn't give a damn about his studies will not help. So, amanda, it's basically up to your sister. She wants good results, she knows what to do.

But if TARC is way further to your house than Stanford and your sis is not planning to stay in TARC's hostel, I'd say go for Stanford. I have plenty of friends who can't concentrate on their studies at home after the excruciating travels. Otherwise, go for TAR, I don't see anything bad about it.

Well that sig is one of it's own here. Let's just say, I'm special ph34r.gif

OK, I see the situation with your sis.
<<<How I wish my elder sis would give a damn on me sad.gif >>>

Your sister seems yo be not ready yet. Maybe you could give her some time. I mean, if she still carries that attitude to her a-level course, it's going to end up bad, which might result in repeats and resits. Note that a-level ain't that hard, but you gotta work hard for it. No more SPM days where you study 2 weeks before your papers.

she had been given almost 5 months to think about it...n yet she still 'blur'...so giving more time doesn't get her anywhere...

as compare to me...i straight away enrol for Pre-U @ taylor on january, even b4 my result came out...

haha...embarassed to said that i'm actually a typical dominant big sister...i actually planned from which secondary sch n wat tuition that she need to go for...n now i even start planning a future for my little brother, who tends to fail all his subject, except chinese language...

if happen that she failed for a-level...i'll ask her to stop thinking about studying science...n juz go get a diploma in business or account

I know you thinking for the betterment of your little sister but you shouldn't be entirely decisive over your sister's future. She's got to study what she's interested.

It seems to me that you're close to your sis. Maybe you know what's her interest Then, it's a better start for you to decide.

I'm afraid that she might blame you if things don't go her way. I know many A-level underperformers from TARC who got forced to study a-level by their parents. I really feel for them. End of the day, they wasted 1.5 years in TARC just to please their parents. Errr, not really because they fail all subjects.

but a-level is juz a pre-u programme...in d option is still wide...

no matter wat she wish to pursue....a-level is still useful....i ofcoz, will try not to choose wat degree that she need to take...

my parents r an uneducated couple....they know nothing about tertiary studies...if i dun plan out for my sis, she will ended up even lost to nowhere...probably will juz take up stpm in her secondary sch, unwilling to come out to d society....n after she graduate from stpm, d prob still arise...

so i hope tat after she finish her 1/5 yr of a-level...she can become more mature n think for herself...

"Nonsense rules"? Those rules were created for a reason and are important as it keeps the students in place and maintain order.

"Old Spoon feeding school"? And you think colleges are not spoon feeding?

90% of the rules are stupid? Can you name 1 of them? I'm curious to see how stupid the rules at CHS are. hmm.gif

What's your definition of "spoon feeding"? I may have mis-interpret your meaning. Please enlighten me. unsure.gif

i think every1 know wat silly rules they had....as simple as chit chatting wit frens are also consider a crime n will face a possiblity of detention....

i know d rules r there for a reason...but v're adults...n no longer children...

i dun think i need to explain wat it means by spoon feeding....secondary sch student seems to b 2 dependent on their sch teacher or tuition teacher for sources....

chinese sch are so money orientated...eventhough they r consider government sch...d parent n teacher association force all student to donate RM30...twice a year.....

Nah, it's not only CHS which uses such tactics to collect money. My ex-secondary school did the same when the provided each student with a "collection card" for them to go around their neighborhood/relatives to ask for donations. The crazy thing was they set a minimum of RM20 to be collected and if the amount is not met, they will not accept it. I couldn't care less and just forked out the whole minimum amount myself. Heh.

Yeah, it was a yearly affair and their promise was to upgrade school facilities (i.e toilets, rest areas, desks, chairs, etc) but it was never fulfilled! doh.gif I wonder where the money went! mad.gif

I'm also staying approximately 1km from my old secondary school and I must say I had some fond memories during my time there. smile.gif
