QUOTE(Angel of Deth @ Jul 28 2011, 11:04 PM) The exact date? Sorry i'm terrible at this geography subject. I still remember not able to answer 4 seasons-related question during high school. QUOTE Autumn (also Fall in American and Canadian English) is one of the four temperate seasons. Autumn marks the transition from summer into winter usually in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere) when the arrival of night becomes noticeably earlier. The equinoxes might be expected to be in the middle of their respective seasons, but temperature lag (caused by the thermal latency of the ground and sea) means that seasons appear later than dates calculated from a purely astronomical perspective. The actual lag varies with region. Some cultures regard the autumnal equinox as "mid-autumn", others with a longer lag treat it as the start of autumn.[1] Meteorologists (and most of the temperate countries in the southern hemisphere)[2] use a definition based on months, with autumn being September, October and November in the northern hemisphere,[3] and March, April and May in the southern hemisphere. More weapon slots for PC Duke Nukem Forever, patch in testing
QUOTE Gearbox Software is working on a PC patch for Duke Nukem Forever that will include a "new expanded inventory option" allowing us to carry four weapons. That's four weapons in singleplayer, not multiplayer. Also the Valve Anti-Cheat System (VAC) will be supported, voice chat, adjustable FOV and "other fixes". "The development team has been hard at work combing through the feedback provided here and elsewhere, with updates based on this feedback currently in the works for all three platforms," posted Gearbox community manager, Chris Faylor. "Among the changes coming to PC are a new expanded inventory option that allows you to carry up to four weapons in the single-player campaign, Valve Anti-Cheat System (VAC) support, push-to-talk voice chat, the ability to adjust FOV plus other fixes and improvements that are still being tested," he detailed. These are PC specific changes. "We’ll be sharing more details about the updates, including those coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, as they’re finalized." Many criticised Duke Nukem Forever being locked to just two weapons especially given his huge arsenal in bygone days. Blame was thrown at Gearbox Software for the extremely limited arsenal, but former 3D Realms boss George Broussard admits the decision was his actually. "Yeah, blame us for it if you want. It may change in the future and I don't know what will happen with it, but it was us. I stand by it too, as you cannot discount designing games for a modern world and part of that world is consoles where the bulk of the sales can be." "And on those consoles you have a controller. We tried for a long time to support lots of guns but we simply could not find a nice way to map it to a controller, despite trying 4-5 designs. We gave it enough time and decided to stop swimming against the current and adopt what was basically the "standard". It's not 1996 anymore," concluded Broussard. Have you enjoyed Duke Nukem Forever? The critical reception of this very late to show-up first-person shooter has been mixed at best, with some praising it for keeping things 'traditional' while others were disappointed it felt so out of touch with today. Nope, the ship is still steady. There are lots of people playing MP, though i'm not a fan of MP because they're too fast for me. The patch size is around 550 MB, so you can expect a lot of improvement.

'Duke Nukem Forever was profitable for Take-Two," CEO says
![]() QUOTE "Despite its disappointing reviews, Duke Nukem Forever was profitable for Take-Two," company CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors during a conference call this evening. While disappointing might be a nice way of describing most of the game's reviews (here's ours!), it's no surprise that the title is selling well. After fourteen-years of waiting, audience interest in the title was massive and, poor reviews be damned, Duke earned a #2 spot on the month's NPD charts. While Take-Two didn't bankroll those fourteen years of development, the publisher did sue Apogee over the unfinished game in 2009 claiming that it paid $12 million for the publishing rights to the title. The two settled in 2010 and then, just a few months later, Texas-based Gearbox Software announced it had purchased the game, the character, et al and resumed the publishing relationship with Take-Two. Gearbox is doing a survey on player experiences in Duke Nukem Forever.
http://survey.gearboxsoftware.com/index.php Time to b**** on the shitty driving sections, the two weapon limit, shitty graphics and animations and horrible level design! On another note, it lends credence to the possibility that there is another Duke game in the works. |

Duke Nukem 3D Reloaded delayed indefinitely
QUOTE While Duke Nukem Forever was released to jeers and critical savaging, the previous 1996 title, Duke Nukem 3D, has a special place in the hearts of gamers who are of a certain age. An indie developer made of Duke fans have been working on an updated version of the classic game with modern graphics and tech called Duke Nukem 3D Reloaded. Sounds like a dream game, but unfortunately, the team has been hit with a creative conflict by the current license holders, Gearbox Software, whom they had previously consulted with on restrictions. According to a post on the official website: "After careful consideration of the progress and direction of the project, Interceptor Entertainment has decided to finish Duke Nukem: Reloaded at a future date that is yet to be determined... Interceptor Entertainment still has the good will and non commercial license provided to us to use the Duke Nukem brand for our creative ambitions. We hope to resume that work again when the time is right." The reasoning is apparently due to a difference of opinion with Gearbox, as the statement reads: "We are around 90% finished with the current Multiplayer version - But you have to remember, that we don't own the game. Its done under a signed license with Gearbox Software. Which ultimately means, that we cannot do whatever we want with the project. Its not really up to us. We have had a long conversation with Gearbox about this matter. And the fact is, that we are bound by a license. A license of an IP owned by Gearbox Software. And we can't do much about it.." Some are speculating that the issue might be that Duke Nukem 3D Reloaded outclasses Duke Nukem Forever, which would be an embarrassment to Gearbox and publisher Take 2, but the real reason is unknown.
